Another AMD Roadmad, this one according to DAILYTECH (http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4422) is leaked by AMD to the press.

No processors based on 65nm process this year as previously reported on some others not so official roadmaps.
First 65nm processors in Q1'07 and only on the lower rank up to X5000+ CPUs

Q4'06- NEW Athlon 64 X2 5400+ 89W, 5600+ 89w and 6000+ 125W.
WOW 125W, looks like AMD is now chasing higher performance with clock speed and resulting in much more wattage use and I'm sure heat. Intel use to do the same when behind AMD.

Q4'06 Introduction of new line Socket-F FX (FX 2-P) 125W processors for AMD's 4x4 platform for enthusiasts and gamers. Apparently AMD's temporary answer to Intel soon coming quad-core Kentsfield.
BIG maybe and my guess, the 4x4 might be faster than the coming Intel Kentsfield, ONLY when 2 FX CPU's used but the cost is going to be about double. Who is going to buy that.

If 4x4 is faster than Kentsfield, it will ONLY be faster in applications that use all 4 cores, in everything else it will be much slower. Not to mention twice as expensive. meh.

I guess only time will tell. It completly contradicts what I posted. Somehow I really doubt that there will by 125W versions of non FX processors. AMD has already seen what the effects of that are via Intel. I guess the only thing that we know for sure is that there will be new procs in the next few months.

Bleh, not looking good at all.

Jacking up the clock speed, heat and power usage just doesnt do anything for me. Thats why I originally went with AMD over Intel years ago.

My next CPU will deffinitely be an Intel unless AMD can actually compete on a price vs. performance level. And their current CPUs just dont seem to be capable.

Yeah, I agree. Conroe/Kentsfield/Yorkfield is looking better and better right now.

Not to mention another socket (Socket-F FX). Soon, we will see a new socket every 6 months...
