Looks to me like somebody who is spreading the rumors is making BIG money on the stock going up and down.

NEW YORK, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Intel Corp. (INTC.O: Quote, Profile, Research) Chairman Craig Barrett on Thursday declined to comment on rumors the company is looking to buy rival Nvidia Corp. (NVDA.O: Quote, Profile, Research).

In an interview with Reuters TV, Barrett said: "We treat investments and things of that sort like fine wine and we never discuss them before their time, so we don't comment on rumors of that sort."

I wonder why not strait denial to stop all the rumors, almost looks like something is going on.

I thought it was a little strange that the G80 specs were leaked on the same day as the Intel+NV rumors got a boost. I totally agree that somebody made a ****load of money because of this.

I have wondered the exact same thing why there is not just straight out denial. I mean if the deal is really not happening why just say it isn't. Then again the longer they keep Wallstreet in suspense the better chance they have of their stocks to continue rising, even if nothing is really happening.;)

its interesting that there is no flat out denial by either side, nvidia is declining to comment and Barrett said: "We treat investments and things of that sort like fine wine and we never discuss them before their time, so we don't comment on rumors of that sort."

it DOES remind me of the will they/won't they hinkyness that led up to the ATI/AMD buyout.

Anyone who's heard Jen Hsun speak of Intel knows he'd never sell his baby to them. Not in a billion years. The board have to fire him for feduciary irresponsibility before NVIDIA could be bought by Intel.

Now, Jen Hsun would LOVE to _buy_ Intel...

If Intel ever decides to buy Nvidia, Jen Hsun wont have enough money to stop it.
Simple like that.
