with vista and the 8 series cards coming out I have a question and need some input. I can get the 8800 gtx or put in a little xtra and get the samsung 24 inch monitor the 244t i think. right now I m leaning toward the video card but the monitor really intrigues me. At the moment i have the sync master 940 b which has been a great monitor but now seems small to me. What choicw would you make and thanks in advance.

Definitely get the new LCD. One of the biggest factors to enjoying your computer is having nice monitor or LCD. The step up from your 940b to the 24" Samsung is going to blow your mind! :)

trust me, go widescreen and don't look back. you are going from a 19" lcd to a 24" widescreen, you will more than appreciate gaming and the extra desktop space, along with movies and anything else you can throw at it. you will be happier looking at the 24" monitor than you will be once vista and g80 are out and you are kicking yourself in the ass for not getting a better monitor. vista with its gaming performance still up in the air, as well as "official" 8 series benchies, that is still hit or miss at this point, i'd go with the safe bet and hold off on vista till we see where it officially stands in gaming.

Cool thanks for the recommendations. I was rethinking and on the monitor side of things and that's what I'll do. Let Vista and all that cool stuff mature. Thanks

You have pretty good set up so definitely the monitor is better choice for now.
How about the BenQ FP241W, at least on paper it looks better than the Samsung.
Since new not many users reports yet, at newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014124) $799.99
I'm also thinking about the Westinghouse LVM-37w3 but no good deal on it in Canada yet.

Buy the monitor, then sell your GTX cards and get a G80 for practically nothing. You should be able to pull $300-$400 each for those cards on eBay and G80 wont cost over $600 at release.

when buying a monitor right now make sure it has HDCP

buying a monitor right now with out HDCP is just stupid.

Blu-ray and HD-DVD will need HDCP to play in full HD resolution, and the word is that other HD formats will need HDCP also.

while Blu-ray, HD-DVD players are expensive still, that will start to change next year.

the new benq is hdcp. That was one of the selling points.
