I'm supposed to be on the load crew at Staples. But they keep jacking around with my hours and other crap. It is getting annoying. If they could just give me the position I was originally hired for, at the hours they promised me, I'd be happy. I have nothing against the actual job itself. It is the management I have problems with.
Yea..I've had jobs that I did not agree with the management on things..but I never quit until I had something better.

Well, it was this one job that I quit before I had something else...but it was because if I didn't quit, I was gonna beat up my boss for saying something about white women liking black men. I started to break his neck for his derogatory comment....

but do you really want to work for your dad? my dad wants me to work for him, he's in the construction business (power stations) and i dont want to....working for family is a major pain in the ass

Exactly my problem. The pay would be great, but there are tradeoffs when working for the family.

Currently it is just me and one other guy that comprises the load crew. There is supposed to be a crew of five guys. But the other guy and I work hard and fast enough to where they don't need more people on load. Essentially, we are kind of like heros when it comes to load as far as the management is concerned.

Last time they cut my hours back by this much, I just took it for like 3 weeks. Then, when it became obvious that I wasn't getting any more hours back for load, I asked them to put me wherever else that they could that would give me more hours. That left the other dude doing load all by him self. Which then meant the whare house became a disorganized pile of products. :p

Now, they put me back on load because he bitched about doing the load himself, and they are her cutting my hours again. When I told the dude that works load with me about it, he about hit the roof. He is gonna' threaten to quit if they don't fix it simply because he doesn't want to do the job of two people (technically five) without getting a beefy pay raise- and I don't blame him.

As such, I might threaten to quite as well which would mean they would have absolutely no body to throw load.

Yup...Do you remember that? Dang! That was the only time I really wanted to go postal on anyone. My girl told me that if I did something to him, that he would be in the right.

Try living in a house rented by a family member. I'm about to move because it's best in order to keep a good relationship.

Good plan...just make sure it doesn't backfire.

I'm going to talk to the General Manager today. I'll just take the attitude that it was merely a mistake and that they'll be willing to correct it.

If it turns out that they truly did cut my hours back that low intentionally, I'll remind him that I do have access to another job that would provide far greater hours at better pay. I'll probably tell him either he fixes the schedule, or I don't work another day for him. Then, the other load guy comes in and threatens to quite unless they give me my hours back... I'm sure I'll get my hours back.

Or I'll go back to working for my old man getting awesome paychecks... but having to deal with "other" issues. :p

I know what you mean. I've talked it over with my old man and he is desperate for the help but lacks enough time to interview anybody. I'm already working for him part time. So I'd just become full time if I quit staples.

This is a plan I use on jobs in the passed:

I would get accepted at another job. I would tell my current job that I have a job that will pay me more. I tell my current job to at the very least match the salary. If they pay it: Good. If they don't: I'm packing my stuff.

What I'm thinking happened, is that the Assistant General Manager and the General Manager are king of at odds. Before we got the Assistant GM, everything was awesome. Now, with the GAM here, everything has gone down hill it seems. The GAM is doing things without even running it by the GM. He's having us (the load crew) do things that interfere with our work, thus preventing us from finishing load properly. Seems to me the GM just might can the GAM before too long... atleast I hope that he does.

That is what I'll be doing essentially. And if I do wind up quiting, and they refuse to pay the other load guy significantly more, he'll quit as well. Then they' be up $h!t creek without a paddle for some time. :D

At the staples here we are significantly under-staffed. So if they lost their load crew it would be quite a blow to them. They'd be alteast a couple day with no body to throw load, and the warehouse is a disaster that is out of control as is... and with us gone it'd get far worse.

So I do have many things to my advantage... if I can play my cards right. :D
