are there diferences between SAta I and SAta II cables?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=84&

the expensives ones says it can transfer up to 3GB/s.. but i was told that by others that any sata cable will also do the job.

any comments ?

SATA2 cables have the locking clip.

all sata cables have the same speed

if they both got the same number of little metal wires (ie identical connectors), they're both the same thing...

SATAI = 150Mbps
SATAII = 300Mbps

Don't know about any difference in the cable speed though, doubt there is any.

PS: If they are gold connectors on the more expensive ones, then go for them, gold makes a great conductor.

only reason why i got sata II cables, because of the clip, makes the connection more secure

Capital (B)ytes and (b)its
SATAI = 150MBps
SATAII = 300MBps

I'm picky, but (B) are 8x-10x faster than (b)
:)

Actually its Mbps, since it is a serial connection it transfers in bits not bytes therefore it's measured in bits. I mistyped it 150Mbps instead of 1500Mbps and 300Mbps instead of 3000Mbps.

The calculation for bytes > bits is: 8 * Bytes = bits
The calculation for bits > bytes is: 8 / bits = Bytes

Bytes and bits are not faster, they are just another way of measuring. Parallel connections are measured in bytes, and serial is measured in bits.

Well said!
Not to be picky but it should be 1.5Gbps and 3Gbps.
Or better yet, 150MB/sec and 300MB/sec for the rest of us :)

Case closed
