I did a forum search and didn't see this posted, so sorry if it has been.

The other day I was having absolutely terrible performance (2-10 FPS!?! :confused: ), on the living planet level, Acheron, whereas previous levels were smooth as a baby's butt with all detail settings on "high"and EAX enabled at 1024x768x32 (old 17" monitor :() w/ 2xAA and 16xAniso. I tried lowering some of the settings, but this had no effect on performance. I decided to check the Windows Task Manager, and found that "AutoRun" was eating up about 40-50% of the CPU. I disabled it, rebooted, and things were once again smooth as a baby's butt. I have also heard people say that no-CD cracks solve this problem too, but IMO that's not the best option. Good luck!

this may be cause by the cd proteccions that check the cd several times when youre playing...and sometimes these things get really **** up

I hate them :mad: Worst case was when I bought Rune, brought it home and couldnt even install the damn thing :lame: :argh: :fu:

You should bring that to the attention of the developers, I know that the BF1942 1.3 patch removed a lot of the unncessary CD checks. Also, just try disabling autoplay of data cds, although that doesn't sound like an option if you want your other ones to autorun.
