I posted this at the nvidia forums but no-one seems to know..
So... whenever my GC is sucking up a lot of power, my computer cuts out (I had this problem before with a Geforce 6600GT and a different MB), for example I can play Fear for about 6 mins@1600x1200 before it cuts out, and about 15 mins@1280x1024. I assumed it was the power supply I've got, which is 440w, so I went and bought a 600w PSU. Today I installed it, and tried running Fear again at 1600x1200..
I loaded it up, and it worked for about 3 seconds before it cut out. So I unplugged the power cord (which is what I have to do whenever it cuts out before I can start up again), plugged it in again, switched it on, and... BANG. Power supply blew up, lol. I had to put my old one back in, luckily nothing got fried..
So anyway, I don't really know about power supplies so my question is, why is my PC cutting out all the time, is it the power supply, and why did this new one cut out so fast and blow up when my other one works for longer before cutting out and doesn't explode..?
I'm pretty sure it's not overheating, and the GC is definately not overclocked.
