Actually this is from the Australian division...
I think overall this is funny as hell. Yes, it is region specific...and yes...the exec does have a point to some degree concerning the exact positioning of the other consoles.
But come on...the PS3 is an expensive ass piece of hardware regardless of how you look at it.

ROFL ....£500 next to £299, hmm let me think about that.
Sony execs = clueless. My advice to all these talking heads is to STFU and concentrate on getting the PS3 on store shelves.

You forget that the PS3 is an inexpensive bluray player

Hmm I have little interest in Bluray until they stop using the ancient MPEG-2 and upgrade to MPEG-4 or VC-1 or similar newer codec if possible. For the moment at least HD-DVD is the way to go for movies at least. I wonder just how many PS3 games will exceed the DVD9 size, only sofar is Resistance. Blu-Ray may have the advantage then.

A bit on the expensive side??
Right now the 360 isn't too bad. $600AUD for the Premium Pack, Kameno, Gotham Racing, Arcade pack, 12 months Gold Subscription and an extra wireless controller.
With the PS3 delay, $1000 price, no Blu-Ray movies available in AU yet. I think Sony Australia has very little to say.

Well mpeg-2 does have its advantages - it really depends on how you use it, bitrate, etc. For something like a DVD release where you have very high bitrates at an SD resolution, it has better quality than mpeg-4 does, as with mpeg-4 you are going to notice more motion bluring. HD you'll generally, but not always, want to use mpeg-4 since you have over four times the amount of video data, but not necessarily four times the storage capacity. This could allow higher detailed static images at lower bitrates.

Very true . . . but I still wouldn't pay that much money just for a Blu-Ray player. Just IMO, there aren't any real good games for PS3 announced yet so the only reason to buy a PS3 would be for a Blu-Ray player.
You know, what kills me about this format war is that some titles are format exclusive. What a PITA. I want movies like Underworld and Click on a HD format but I don't plan on buying a BR player for a long time (at least till the prices come back down near the solar system). I do plan on getting the HD-DVD add on but this whole title exclusivity it driving me nuts.
At first it seemed kind of funny but I think he is kind of right. For just $100 more or the price of a 360 with a wireless adapter you can get get the 20GB PS3 with these features the 360 does not have.
- A BluRay player
- HDMI out of the box.
- Linux and online web surfing
- Free online play
- WiFi
- A hardrive where you can store anything on
Thats worth more than $100 to me and even by MS standards if they believe a wifi adapter should cost $100 and yet the 360 is just $100 cheaper.

Yeah, I can see where that would be worth it. But you also got to look at the games. IMO, I haven't seen a real good exclusive PS3 game yet. Also, I didn't know that the PS3 had "Linux" . . . . Any linkies?

Also add keyboard and mouse support to that.

Without a doubt Sony has more exclusives than MS coming.

Nice but I don't see any benefits for myself . . . Oh well. Again, I believe that it comes down to the games. I wouldn't mind grabbing a PS3 maybe for a Blu Ray player sometime down the road. Maybe Sony can release some interesting (to me) games later. The best to all!

If he's referring to the Wii-60 "deal" (buying a Wii and X360 instead of a PS3) then he has point.
