View Full Version : Nvidia IQ (AA and AF) in racing sims...

Have just been reading up on a few forums about ATI vs Nvidia IQ in racing sims like R-Factor and GTR2.

Seems the general view is that ATI have the upper hand when it comes to Antialiasing and Anistropic filetring in such games.

Even when I enable 4 X AA and 16 X AF..I still see jaggy lines on the white road markings and terrible jaggies on the alco on the side of the track.

Is anyone able to shed more light on this.

Should I keep my 7950 or move over to dual X1950's?

Probably has something to do with the profiles for the games, if there is one or not. I dunno, just guessing.

Try enabling supersampling transparency AA, with 4x or 4xS AA, and 16x High Quality AF. I doubt you'll get any better than that with either brand..

You need Trans AA for those angle stuff.

I just bought GTR2, and it looks great with the settings suggested above.
Ati only has better IQ when optimizations are on (or at least that what I remeber when I upgraded from a 9800 to a 6800)

Ati AA seems to last for farther distances than nVidia AA. It's really obvious in race sims.
