I take back what I said earlier. I really dont know about that first pic... I just showed it to my sister and she immediately said it looked like they pasted the face onto a photo of her hair and the background.

I guess we'll see when the demo is available.
Yeah the hair looks too realstic like its taken from a real photo (same for the background) .. the rest of the face is certainly CG.

Yeah, I didnt think they would do that but the more I look at it, the more it doesnt look right.

Well you don't know who "they" are, it's not like these are officially sponsored or anything.

Adrianne Curry got those renderers from Nvidia and she posted them on her blog at MySpace .

that's a great step up from our current generation, but isn't even close to photorealism.

We will when a game is released that only has one character on the screen, and is specially optimized for a specific hardware :)

And on that note, we queue the Atari!

When do we ever see games that look like these tech demos?http://media.teamxbox.com/games/ss/1278/1140207767.jpg

Don't call me a hater... but I would expect something like this (http://www.this-wonderful-life.com/photo-shoot.htm) in a G80-tech-demo looking at the assumed specs of the chip. The shots posted sofar look great but nothing like something that would make me go "Gee, I need that hardware now!".

Just my 2/100.

That looks a bit...strange..

Tech demos don't really impress me.I'd prefer pics or better video demontrating G80 power on DX10 games like Crysis of Alan Wake.

I agree.

Some tech demos are cool, but they dont tend to wow me the way a great looking game does.

I find techdemos far more impressive then games usually are.
But you have to take them for what they are, techdemos and nothing else.
You´re basicly packing the entire punch of a specific card into one very limited scene, which you ofcource cant do with a game.

If you're referring to the N3 screenshots, they are taken from the game and made with its 3D engine and assets; CGI is used only in the intro sequences.

If you refer tho the first pic in the thread, well, I'm quite perplexed as they don't seem a huge jump from what is possible with current hardware. I'll wait to see the full demo, but those two close up shots don't look on par with past demos like Nalu.

Did the nalu demo have self shadowing?

Did the nalu demo have self shadowing?
99% sure it did.

Adrianne Curry modeled for Nvidia and they will use her virtual model to showcase the G80 power .

Here are two photos of the virtual model :

Thanks for the pics. Can't wait to see the demo.

Are you saying the first one isn't chopped?

Btw, you are one serious lurker joined in '03 with 11 posts....

I also think that they combined real picture with 3d model .

Wouldnt be the first techdemo running on a photographic background if it is..

My 2 cents is they aren't chopped or anything of that nature. but just renders during the modeling process. The first one for instance is the sample photo in the background plane Where as the face of it is the 3d model on the 3d plane being modeled to facial spec of the reference photo behind it. Since these aren't publication or pr shots of the character this would not be somthing done to 'trick' customers.

Perhaps the G80/DX10 duette will make that possible ..

haha on a core 2 quad cpu based system maybe, running at 15-30 frames =p

Your not a hater but your certainly crazy thinking your going to get that much radiosity anytime soon. The g80 specs maybe hardcore sure. But they are not 'that' hardcore.

That's not an actual in-game shot. It's cinema.

OMG. Don't even try to say that 99 Nights looks good. That game looks like run-over dog crap. The anisotropic filtering is so poor that there's only a circle of clear ground around the main character. Everything else is blurry as hell.
