Currently my Athlon xp 1900+ comp runs at a blazing 60ºC with case closed! The default heatsink ain't cool. So I need help on choosing an effective heatsink like a swifttech or thermaltake but could use some quiet to. Im not sure on whats a good fan cfm for adaquate cooling. My system specs:

asus k7v266-c
512 pc2100 corsair
gf4 ti4200 128mb
30 gb maxtor
sb plat 5.1

you think it i could possibly oc effectively without adding too much noise? (roommate can't sleep with a jet engine runnin, i can :p)

thanx for any help, greatly appreciated

One fine HSF, best bang for buck by far (http://www.coolermaster.com.hk/en/products/cooler/hac-v81.html)

Adjustable fan speed always a plus, but the performance of this HSF even on a low speed is good, there are lots of reviews if you do a search, even one on the front page here ;)

Volcano 11 is another to look at (http://www.thermaltake.com/products/heatsink/v11.htm)

Rated for use upto an AthlonXP 3400+, comes with a smartfanII, which is quieter than the previous smartfan found on the Volcano 9.

The case traps heat when closed. The only way to stop that is lots of fans. Sorry , I did not make the rules. Or you could turn the thing of at night:cool:.
