:tiki: Personally I think Ageia is (crazy) if this is true. Why in the world would I want more than one Ageia Physx Card? Let alone even why would I want one? That seems really fetchin' stupid to plug in like 2,3 or even 4 physx cards into a motherboard. :retard: Is Ageia trying to copy SLI?

THE PRICES FOR THESE CARDS SURE ARE COMING DOWN.

Oh wow, they've split the price in half from the last time I looked.

Newegg's still being a little stupid about it. The Asus is going for 230 and the BFG for 190. Still better than it's been.

This is just crazy talk in my opinion. But there you can see it right in the drivers.

:barf: Multiple Physx Cards.

I know, right. They haven't even optimized the thing for one card yet, let alone two.

Two = ginormous clusterf***.

Would someone please explain to me how anyone would ever have space for more than 1 Physx card in there system if they have nice GPUs as well? :screwy:

haha, whats next?

DUAL Sound Cards, get two XFi to utilize the true 14.2 surround sound, be the first on the block with 14.2 sound system!!

:rofl EXACTLY.

Might be useful in SoftImage XSI if you got a real heavy scene going with tons of particles and objects in a simulation.. to keep it running realtime in the viewport.
For games it seems overkill, not even utilizing much of one yet it seems.

with the current motherboard that are coming out, you will be lucky if you get Dual GPU and a sound card fitted inside.

Very True.

If they want to do this then why not just stick two cores on one card?

More especially why not just a more efficent and powerful PPU. Any how if Nvidia or ATI have anything to say Ageia will be crushed I believe.

Yeah, that would be good but you would probably be able to do more calculations with two cores, especially if you dedicate one to say... perhaps, vehicle collisions, and one to other collisions, or even downclock two PPU's to reduce heat, but deliver same performance.

The functionality might not be targeting gaming.
As mentioned apps like SoftImage XSI supports AGEIA for realtime physics, and in that field the card is relatively cheap (looking at high end workstations with Quadros and whatnot).

For gaming it would lose the benefit of a fixed performance platform, that it currently has against CPU or GPU assisted physics where you got a range of different performances between different CPU and GPU models.

I think the question is, what will be best supported/compatible with apps/games in the future? This type of physx card, or multiple cpu/core systems? I'm not the gambling type, but if I were, my $$ would go on the latter.

NVIDIA Physx FTW!

IMO this is pretty retarded.

This feature is probably not meant for games.

Have you guys ever thought about the possibility that physics research firms might be VERY interested in a product that can calculate fluid dynamics in real time?

Suppose they are testing the waterflow of a ship and looking to optomize it's geometry. More than one phyX cards may be practical in this situation.

You forgot the "How stupid is this post" option in your poll.

here's what's next... me and the Infinium boys have been talking... and, well, they gave me what they call the "secret jpeg". I swore on my life that I wouldn't show the world... and so I thought about it, and ya know, this place isn't the whole world... so:

This image looks farmiliar. I'm pretty sure I saw it in "cELL developement facility" when I toured Sony's labs.
