Am I stupid if I buy a 20" TFT (1600*1200 native) paired with a 7900GT card?

Hi!

I'm currently running on a 17" TFT screen and lately I´ve been drooling all over these brand new 20" screens with DVI etc. The only question I have is:

Is an AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 2Gb RAM and a 7900GT sufficient to run recent games in the native resolution of 1600*1200 ?
Since my current 17" screen can't go that far I haven't tried it myself but when reading benchmarks it looks like a 7900GT is still "OK".

I currently play:
Call Of Juarez
Prey
HL2 - Episode 1
Age Of Empires III

Also, are TFT-screens today good at running "non-native" resolutions or will the image become "blurry"?

You might want to take a look at the wide screens in 20". Like 1680x1050. I ran a system powered by a 3700+ with two GB of ram and a 7900 GT with very good results in Prey and Juarez.

Yeah, I´ve been thinking about a WS-monitor as well but I'm not 100% sure about WS since I still play some older games (like Starcraft etc)

The image will probably become slightly blurry, but if you can afford that monitor, I'm sure you can afford a G80 to run at higher resoltions.

For Prey , AOEIII & HL2 : EP1 1600x1200 is possible on your setup.
for CoJ OTOH nope!

For some of the games you listed your computer is enough for 1600x1200.

However, for games like Oblivion, Company of Heroes, and other similar (very demanding games), it won't be enough. If you're fine with that, then go for it.
