How is Maxtors RMA processes?
Will they cross-ship?
i have a 300gb SATA drive (6V300F0) that started acting up, scandisk would not complete, just hangs at 8%, now running HD Tune, so far its about 25% and i have .6% of drive damaged.
Warranty ends in May 2007, does anyone have any experience with maxtor RMA?

Just take a hammer to the drive and buy a western digital or seagate.

I dont know. I have a maxtor and I never looked into it. Mine have worked fine although i think they are slowly dying. I am definitley getting a seagate or western digital next time for my next upgrade..

Did you all know that Seagate acquired Maxtor? I had no idea until I checked on Maxtor's site. In any case, try creating an online RMA and see what options they give you. If they're anything like Western Digital, you can give them a credit card number and they'll ship you the new drive first. Once you get it, you'll have something like 15 days to return the defective one before your card gets charged.

Buy Seagate next time around and you won't need to use the warranty. :D

hey, another question
one drive (300gb) its advance exchange, so they will ship the drive first,
but other two are not, i was wondering will maxtor send me packing and instructions where to ship them or what?
they have not told me where to ship them
