Corsair XMS2-6400

Guys

I am buying some memory for a Core2 system I am building for a mate. I have the board and chip but I was wondering which memory to go for? I was thinking of going for some Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400 but unsure if I should go for the C4 or C5 versions. I know the C4 comes with a bit better timings but is that the only difference? and can they be over clocked much.

This is the first System I would have built with DDR2 only DDR so far so I don't have that much exp with DDR2.

btw the main board is a Gigabyte DS4.

You will find that the C4 memory will oveclock a lot more if you lower
the timings of the memory for the C5 expect around 850-900MHz and the C4 maybe 1000MHz again this varies and not garenteed.

For overclocking, go with the C4. Mine overclocked quite well and managed to maintain its C4 timings with just a touch of added voltage.

Nothing wrong with the C5 - it's what I use, but the others are quite right. If you're an overclocker, the C4 is a better deal. I mainly went with C5 because of the money.

I will see what he says? but the price difference is only about £20 over here so I may as well get him the C4. Then at least he can't complaine that he will not be able to overclock it :p
