Feedback on Battlefield 1942 demo

What do you guys think? I've only been able to join one server so far, and the sound was fuzzy and it crashed. :rolleyes:

nevermind i got it working fine now....i turned on hardware acceleration and sounds are clear as a bell

tried it for 2min...good graphics, controls lag a bit (mouse lag).
played it at 1280, good framerate, don't understand why the mouse delays...

You can get rid of mouse delays by messing with v-sync on and off. At least it's worked for me on a few games.

I'll try turning on sound acceleration, but the framerate will probably dip quite a bit.

nice game, the MP demo is pretty half baked though..

only 1 in 4 times will i sucessfully get on a server, and never have i been able to play for more than a minute before it crashes to desktop

other thing is that many people have to drop to 60Hz to get the game to even load (which sucks big time - ugh, i got a headache from that part)

apart from that, LAN games work just fine, amazing game there! it just needs some bugs stomping

Works fine for me, its quite fun too, basically a WWII version of tribes :)

I've only played it for about 1hr or so but I thought that it was alot of fun. The airplanes are great, lots of fun to fly, so are the other vehicles. It feels like a massive multiplayer online game without the price. It's just a cool feeling to be fighting on the ground with dog fights above you and tanks coming at you and artillery pummeling the shore. I had alot fun can't wait to see what thay bring in the retail ver.

Anyone having really stuttery video without setting direct3d v-sync to "Always On"? I have to turn vsync on or I warp. And with vsync on, the frame rate sits at about 42 (half refresh rate).

I think one cool thing about the engine is that the battleship and aircraft carrier aren't fake static objects on the map. You can actually drive them around. The last game I play I was on a battleship as it sank, just made it to the life boat in time. It was cool.

exactly my thoughts..

I gotta say this game is very fun once you learn to play it..
Once they work out all the kinks and the game is released I think its going to be a big hit..

How cool is that? 64 players doing all sorts of different things at once. Insane! But I think I read somewhere on their site that the EA servers will only be up for a year.

the one thing i found annoying in the single player was when the computer hopped into the artilery unit and drove it right into the front line:mad:

but I love this demo and I think the game is a must buy for me:cool:

yeah, like I said, the more I play, the more I like it!
I'm usually an Engineer (cappy gun tho).
I like to fix the turrets to blow up the ships (they get canned a lot:D)

Remember how much fun the original Tribes was{I was soooo addicted to that gameplay!}??? Well thats what this game reminds me of. Possible GOY for me. I can play this game for hours on end and not get bored at all.

So far, Ive only had time to mess around with single player....and what I've seen has been great. The actions are very realistic and I love being able to get control over just about anything on the map...

This game looks to be a winner in my book.....cool game...

YOu have to try multiplayer!! It's so much better than the singleplayer version.

I love this game!!! But I can't play the game for longer than 5 mins before being disconnected from the net. I then have to restart my PC before I can connect again.

The other thing it does if it does not do the above is: I play for 5 mins or so and then all of a suddern my monitor goes black and then my PC restarts!

I will definately get the Retail version, I just hope that it does not give me the same uphill as the demo!

what are your system spec's?and are you running any background programs before joining any multi games?(like norton?)...if so, try disabling any thing running that need not be before playing. im on a P4 2.2ghz/geforce4ti4600 with 30.82's and have no riva tuner or other things like that...and have had no problems , other than the fact that every server lately always say's "32/32"...guess a lot of people like playing this game. in my opionion..this could become "game of the year"..basically i say this because there is so much different things/positions/vehicles/planes/etc....that you can take control over, but i wouldnt rate it game of the year yet, until i see the rest of the maps in full version.
