CHIP Online has posted some juicy info in regards to the upcoming R350 and RV350 VPU line-ups from ATI.
Radeon 9800
Process: 0,15 µm
Core clock: 375 MHz
Memory type: DDR-I (128MB)
Memory clock: 350 MHz
Radeon 9600 Pro
Process: 0,13 µm
Core clock: 400 MHz
Memory type: DDR-II (128MB)
Memory clock: 400 MHz
Radeon 9600
Process: 0,13 µm
Core clock: 300 MHz
Memory type: DDR-II (128MB)
Memory clock: 300 MHz
Radeon 9200
Process: 0,15 µm
Core clock: 275 MHz
Memory type: DDR-I (64MB)
Memory speed: 275 MHz
I wonder whats the point of using 300 DDR II when 300mhz DDR is readily available, cheaper and performs the same.
Maybe its a typo or ATI wants to make people think DDRII performs better than normal DDR when running at the same speed.
I assume that at least the Radeon 9800 has 256 bit bus, but its not clear if the 9600 has it.
Anyway, I expect the Radeon9600 to at least keep up with the geforce FX (non ultra) and of course the 9800 to annihilate anything else.
ATI has the lead now, and it seems they won't let go.
