Now I know this is betaware...just trying to get the most out of it :)

I just installed Mandrake Linux 9.1 beta on my system with a geforce4, and of course, there are no drivers for the system. I have tried recompiling them, BUT, since there is absolutely no kernel-source on the beta CDs, I can't really do anything. I found some other kernel that was related, but it failed when I installed the module. I have no OpenGL support now, X crashes whenever I try loading the nv modules (I tried mandrake 9.0 packages, no go.)

My kernel is...
kernel-2.4.21.0.pre4.1mdk-1-1mdk

Any help is appreciated, thanks

Unless you can find the corresponding kernel-source, you're out of luck.

Well, you could compile a standard (off kernel.org) kernel, and that would work. But if you want to use Mandrake's kernel, you can't.

Talk to Mandrake. Make sure they distribute their kernel-source with 9.1 final! Or maybe you can find the kernel source on their FTP site?

I found a kernel source, and it already outdated my kernel, so now I have to freakin recompile my kernel or something...they had the sources on the 9.0 cd so I think they'll have it with 9.1 final.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried XFree86 4.3 (or 4.299)? There are some problems as I reported on another thread but the nv drivers seem to work in my configuration.

Too late, already went back to 9.0 Final, but I'm pretty sure it was XF 4.3 - I just could not find the kernel-sources compatible...
