So who got screwed over then?

This is the email I got from them:

This email is to inform you that you were discovered to be cheating while on Official Army Servers. For whatever reason these cheats were in use on your system, the method of detection is reliable. Routinely, we ban cheaters on the first offense, but we are giving you a chance to remove all such cheats and start over again fresh. Your honor has been lowered to 5 and all your training trials and range scores have been reset in order for you to complete them again. Once you have completed training, you will be required to play on the Retraining servers until such time as your honor permits you to play on regular servers again.

HomeLAN Army OFFICIAL 36 EAST - Retraining 64.200.90.87:1716 HomeLAN Army OFFICIAL 36 WEST - Retraining 66.220.20.235:1716

Once your honor reaches 9 or above you will be able to once again play on the regular HomeLAN Official servers, 10 and above for the SCI Official servers.

You are strongly encouraged to uninstall the game completely and delete the Army Operations folder from your Program Files directory, as well as any other probable location of cheat files. A fresh install of the game is the only way you can be certain you've removed all the cheats from your system. If you are caught cheating again, your system will be actively banned from America's Army, including any other accounts you have created or may create in the future.

In the official IRC chan they kick anyone who even questions what has happened and there is a nice 15 page thread here (http://www.americasarmy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?topic=47579&forum=15&start=1) on the official site.

Has anyone else had their account reset?

Pretty :lame: way to treat your players, if that ever happened to me, I would just stop playing it (as its a free game ;))

BTW did I ever tell you RavenShield is going to be awesome :p

I was banned too. The E-mail they sent was very insulting if you are honest . They act like there's no way they could be wrong. I'm further insulted when people like the person posting above (joking right??) say quit wining you got caught. There are apparently a few posters @ the AA site who think this is cute. I'm not laughing!

He never said wether he was actually cheating tho.. Were you?

Personally I hate cheaters. Cheating in single player games is fine.. but cheating on multiplayer games I detest. You're basically robbing other fair players of their money of what they paid for.

If you're caught cheating online, you should be banned from all servers.

From what I gathered from the linked thread, it looks like if you happen to be a good player in a game with a bunch of whiners they'll kick you for that. :( No proof of cheating, just the fact that you kicked the sh!t out of the other guys and they scream "He's cheating!" so the player in question gets banned.

I had that happen to me once back in the original UT's hey-day, but I sort of took it as a compliment. (It was one of those rare nights online when I was actually "in the zone", VERY fond memory. :) )

Did you edit your AA code? It's too bad if you got called a cheater and aren't but having played the game for a month or so I have seen many cheaters and am glad AA is agressive in banning them.

Just...don't...cheat. It's simple.

Here we go again. Is it so difficult for you to believe the makers of this freebe software screwed-up? They give no reason for the ban. They don't respond to posts- why?... THEY CAN't.

I have only the official software 1.5.0 downloaded from Invidia on my machine. I have done no editing or installed anything else to my machine. They screwed-up or they are listening to any sour-grapes whims of some who thinks they got killed by a cheater.

I've read posts under the AA tactics section and have learned how to lay down the saw fire at certain areas of the OPforc side of the map. Sometimes I get lucky. Does this make me a cheater?

You may think you cute but to those of us that do have real honor this is an hugh insult!

I also think cheaters who played and didn't get kicked during a game think they should be able to get away with it. I imagine the majority of the complainers are in this category. So while I may have a little sympathy for a falsely accused playa, it is what is best for the community that counts. :ORDER:

I don't like cheaters either, they take ALL the fun out of the game.

There seems to be some opinion that it's OK if some honest players get mistakenly banned so we can get the cheaters... Isn't that a little like saying it's ok to Team Kill your own player if you get a couple of enemy in the process.

This flies in the face of of the most core rules of engagement: Players are severely penalized for killing one of their own. The Army is trying to impress upon us this cardinal rule and yet the very authors of this are doing exactly that by banning the innocent.

the problem is that in games like this there are a lot of false accusations. good players can instantly tell who *may* be cheating and who isn't. after watching them for a few mins it is certain whether or not someone is cheating.

newbies and people with no skill just say anyone who is good is cheating

CS people say anyone who beats them is cheating.

The anti-cheat mutator running on my friend's UT2k3 servers say that random people are cheating all the time--they're not, it's just some weird bug. I'd bet $20 it's the same kind of thing here...

Sounds like the policy is unfair to the accused. I understand that cheating needs to be eliminated, but not at the expence of the talented people or because of bugs in the game, for that matter.

CHEATING :rw: lamepeople:bash: BUGS :ORDER:

I ended up talking to some people from America's Army last night and they refused to admit fault. They started talking about how the computer probably copied a file incorrectly so the system thought I was cheating. I replied by asking why have such a strict system when you fully know that can happen?

They then proceeded to change the subject because they could not answer. I did not cheat, I have not edited any of my files and I have lost my progress over nothing and the developers cannot admit fault. I'm sick of people with their heads up their asses refusing to see the obvious.

Update: Cool :D link (http://americasarmy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?topic=50433&forum=15&11) the anti cheat system has been supended for now to see if they can find a problem with it

And also bring back the honest players who did nothing wrong while they work on a fix. It was the right thing to do and I applaud them for it:clap:
