I honestly can't say any of those really interest me that much, except possibly Zelda, but they did so at the expense of Gamecube owners that were originally promised the game (now they're getting an horribly delayed, inferior version AFTER the Wii release and it might not even be very common). I'll pick it up when it drops to $20, hopefully by then the Wii's price will be lowered and component cables will be easier to find for it.
Red Steel sounded good, before we got to see what the real game was like...

It probably will.
I'm going to try for a Wii release day. I have one pre ordered, but the local EB said they cannot guarantee anything. :(
For me it's going to be a great console for some quick multilayer fun. My gf is not the best with game pads. The wii with it's light hearted games look to be just the solution and it's priced right for just that purpose.

No, Its actually not aimed at them either... it's aimed at non gamers and casual gamers.

I think that the Wii launch will be similar to the DS launch. At first not many good titles will be out for it, but after a year they will really start to shine and the system will be a contender.

A couple things.
First of all the person who wrote this article is an idiot. Wii does have some great launch titles, but this "top ten list" really doesn't showcase them very well (super monkey bananna ball? I mean wtf?).
Second of all, Zelda TP is going to be one of the greatest games of all time, and that right there is reason enough to buy a Wii. Oh yeah, and edge, Zelda isn't going to fall to $20 in a VERY VERY long time.
Wii has the best launch I've ever seen out of any game console. The PS3 has practically nothing for launch, and the XBOX360 really only had two good exclusives (Kameo and PGR3). A top 5 would be a lot better for a launch list than a top 10. They also forgot to mention Wii Sports (which comes with the system) which will be awsome. My personal launch list is as follows:
1) Zelda:TP
2) Wii Sports
3) Red Steel
4) Rayman
5) Elebits
These are all games that I feel I will enjoy. That's a better launch list than any other console to date (at least in terms of what I will enjoy).
And look at the DS. The only good game it had at launch was Mario 64 (which was basically a port), and it's pwning the PSP in every sense of the word. People like innovation, and thats exactly what the Wii offers.

btw I also didn't mention all the Virtual Console titles that Wii will launch with. I plan on playing any of the old school classics that I missed out on during Nintendo's glory days.

Except Twilight Princess is coming out for the Gamecube also, so why would I spend 250 dollars on a piece of crap system for one game?
And your second post can just further help Sony, since you know... backwards compatability without having to pay 10 bucks a game is there.

Wow, I never seen such a bias post from you before... I can understand your remarks on Zelda since well you would think Zelda 2 rereleased would be a gift to all of man kind, Hell I bet you enjoyed the Philips CD Zelda games.
But to say that the Wii has the best launch lineup in console history is just... wow. Rayman and Zelda are honestly the only games that look midly fun or original in any sense. Sure all the games releasing are using the Wiimote but remove the controller and most of them are either ports, sequels or just lame.
I bet Zelda TP will be $20 for the GC by the end of next year if not sooner. Nintendo is going to dump all support for the GC come next year, they will be pulling a MS, hell they already basically dropped support for it even prior to the Wii's release.

That's actually a good thing.
Do you wish PC games were still targetting GF3's?
I never felt I needed 10 years of support for my enormous investment of $300 for my original Xbox. I don't want to play games on it anymore anyway, as the next gen titles are so much better.

Yes because Sony supporting the PS2 with the PS3 right around the corner is hurting its business so much. Sony makes more money thanks to continuely supporting its previous hardware while its nextgen is made available because not everyone who likes Sony games can get a PS3 at launch.
Sony will have two consoles to make a profit off of starting Jan 07 which is smart considering you make money off software, not hardware.
Hell MS could have made alot more money if they would have released acouple more titles for the Xbox considering how poorly the sales of the X360 are in comparison to the original Xboxs. And don't go around saying thats a wrong because its a well known fact that by this time on the Xboxs launch there were more original Xboxs Sold then there are X360s, Now mind you the X360 should have "Technically" had a better sales thanks to it being already a known name, unlike the original which had to "earn" its name from the start.
(Not saying its selling BAD but its not selling better and quicker then the original Xbox was in the same length of time.)

Deutsche Bank analyst Jeetil Patel looks at the 360 business in a different light, instead focusing on the hardware which seems to be underperforming. "260K hardware units were sold in Sep-06, which is an improvement from Aug-06 (200K). However the Xbox 360's installed base is still smaller than the original Xbox's equivalent after the same number of months of sell-through. Xbox 360 sales are even more lackluster if you consider that the original was an unproven product that was trying to sell-in against the hugely popular PS2," commented Patel.

Um 1 month considering Wii's version releases in Nov while the GC version releases in Dec... good try though... oh and the GC version also supports 480p, just have to find the component games for the GC that is all. How are the controls better? Because you use the Wiimote? I have not seen any reports that say that Zelda:TP plays better on the Wii then it does on the GC (talking actual control functionality).

Yeah, but the Wii DOES have a kick ass controller, so you have to take that into account.
I'm curious what console you thought had a better launch? (LAUNCH GAMES ONLY not the potential library)

X360 (RR6, COD2, Kameo, Most Wanted),
Dreamcast (Powerstone, Soul Calibur, Sonic, Trickstyle, Hydro Thunder and House of the Dead 2)
PS2(SSX, DOA2, TTT, Timesplitters, RRV and Smugglers Run)

Dreamcast I'd say was about equal to the Wii, but again, the only games the 360 had at launch that I was interested in was Kameo and PGR3.
The PS2 I'd disagree with, but that's just me.
When it comes down to it, I just really like the Wii games, so it's not a far cry for me to think the Wii launch to be the best launch ever for a console.

I have a launch Gamecube, so I can have 480p also, as long as Nintendo doesn't just NOT support it for the GC version just to be assholes. And 2 months is nothing compared to waiting a year in between decent games on the Gamecube.

I'm going to jump in here...*falls on face, doh!*
I'm very excited about the Wii for 3-4 different reasons.
1. The controls, wireless nunchuck controllers are going to make games much more immersive. Swords, whips, *cough*lightsabers*cough*, and not to mention sports games, the controllers are much more than the old duck hunt gun, they move as you move, that itself is almost worth 250 bux.
2. Games, old or new doesn't matter to me, I have sooo many games I loved on the original NES/SNES systems that I would gladly fork over a few bux to get them emulated on my system (it's not 10 for old games). The new titles are icing on the cake for me, Project Hammer looks like a lot of fun, so does Red Steel. Zelda...meh I've never been a huge fan of Zelda, liked the games but that's it...may or may not pick it up.
3. Free online services & integration with other Nintendo products (GC, DS). This is a huge bonus I don't want to be paying additional monthly fees to enjoy my console system in an online setting (I already pay for WoW). If a good MMORPG comes out for Wii I might try it but at least I won't be paying double for the service and for the game.
4. Cost, granted over time most systems get pretty reasonably priced, but over the past few console releases $300 has been the norm, and that doesn't count games/cables etc. $250(+150 for 2games & memory/cables) bux is a nice place to be, it's not 'as' good as $200, but for a new system with the features the Wii has it's not something to cry about. $400 is nearly the base price of the PS3 not including games/cables.
I've never been impressed with Playstation or it's titles anyway, the only game I ever liked was FF-VII on original PS. I am much more fond of older games though, especially the SNES games (FF-VI ftw).
It's all a matter of personal opinion though, you can't argue 'content' with someone because the value of the 'content' is different for everyone. ;)

no your wrong. Gamecube does not support 480p. It will have black bars on the side if you attempt to run it on a widescreen TV.

I know the older GC's support 480p and 16:9. You had to hold down a button when the game started or somesuch madness to kick it into that mode, and have bought the special cables online. Then they took that feature out of the $99 gamecubes because "no one was using it". I bought my GC late, so I was sort of dissapointed when I finally got my HDTV and I found out my GC couldn't actually output in 480p or widescreen.
At least, thats what I've heard.
