My new pc is coming with a radeon 9700 pro, its a dell card , probably oem.

Do i have to uninstall these things to update to 3.1 catalyst, or can i install them overtop?

What i really want to know is do i just go to add/remove and uninstall there, or do i got to delete all these ati inf files and crap in windows?

What the proper procedure for uninstalling these things?

i read over at driver heaven this complicated uninstall procedure, with like deleting inf files and messing with the registry.

Is this the way you uninstall cat drivers?

if it is this really sucks, Nvidia dets were so much easier to uninstall

sorry for repeat postage, just no one has answered my question satisfactorily

if the det's were so easy to uninstall then why is there a det destroyer?

as for the ATI drivers all I do is use the add/remove, reboot let [98se] install the standard agp/pci then run the install, reboot, install control panel [if not packed].....

I use Drivercleaner from Driverheaven. :)
Works for Ati and nVidia, cleans out reg entries left over from old drivers from both cards as well as files.

unfortnatly, unlike nvidia drivers, overtop doesn't always turn out so good. SlyBoots described exactly how it should be done with ati drivers. defeantly a bad point on ati, but nothing to cry home about. ;)
