I had this little program floating around and had an idea. What if I posted this and used it to transmit small files via the attachment option.;) It is useful for chunking files to send on disk or in little parts for wide distribution and reasembling them on the other end.:cool:
to run it change the extension from .zip to .exe;) :D

This program is small enough to be attached to a post.;) :D :cool: And it then can be used to break up and rebuild files that I may post fragments of later.:cool:

I just found out it was an exe..... I love Norton Commander.... I see the MZ beginning, "an exe" I realize. :cool:
But it's ugly DOS! There are newer programs. Like Hacha, a spanish one.
BTW, Norton Commander 5.0 also does this. :)

Like Madthumbs said Winrar is a better solution. Just use it to make rar volumes instead of this old program.

I don't have Winrar, this is the best I could find.:o :D If I could get a free version(NOT warez), I could use it. /shrug:cool:

My new question is this, can winrar make volumes of 102400byes? Or volumes of 542bytes?:D :cool:

1) Of course! Why not?
2) I'm not sure, but.... who would need such a thing??
freeware != shareware!!

You see how I posted that "ugly dos" exe under the extention ".zip", it is smaller than 102400bytes, that is WHY.;) :cool: The program I posted can slice and dice files to any size you want, even 1byte per file fragment(not recomended for > 1k files). And it can then take those same file fragments and recreate the original file, presto, IMO it is very flexible. No it does not compress files, but I just make an self-executing arj file and then use split.exe for that.;) I have not used WinRAR so I can't comment on it, but split is the MOST flexible file fragmenter I have used, period.:cool: I am going to try WinRAR and hold it to a HIGH standard.;)

Win rar still works after 30 days. After the 30 you get the pop up to purchase it. All you do is click close and you still have full functionality...Just like Winzip...
