is there software out there that will let me use a microphone and record sound and relay what dB level the sound source is?
i really need some software that will measure dB, if anyone knows if any, please share :)

I was thinking that if you had a sblive, you might want to dust off the cd that came with it.;)

You mean Creative Wave Studio? It's a nice program, but I liked the previous version (SB16) more than the actual one.
Or you can use Sound Forge.
What you want is an input volumeter?

yes, in dB(which is probably what all volumeters measure anyway)
