I got my gx2 3 weeks ago, meaning I have a week to return it for a full refund. I'm not sure if I should return it, and wait to buy the 8800 or just keep it and then trade up (evga). I'd hate to go a few weeks without being able to play any PC games but if the new cards are worth the wait then why not. What would you do?

Keep the GX2, man.. it'll be worth it. It'd be a shame to ever return that card and not play it, and it would SUCK to be without a computer for a few weeks.

'Sides.. I'm worried about G80 shortages. :)

^^ I was just kidding, BTW. Yes, send it back. G80 will be out in a few weeks and it will obliterate the GX2. :)

Thanks for the input, and I will share my funny story with you all now

http://www.newegg.com/CustomerService/ReturnPolicy.asp#1

I called Newegg to send back the card, and they want a 15% (75.00 usd) restocking fee. Well, checking the return POLICY it is not stated anywhere except for CPUs that a 15% fee is applied to returns. I checked this policy before I made a purchase and now that I called to return the card I feel I'm being lied to, and I told the supervisor this. Because Im bored at work I'm going to try and contact this guys manager and ask why their policy has some stuff missing from it. Furthermore I wont do business with Newegg again :thumbdwn:

Of course they cant wave the restocking fee for me even though I placed about a 1000 dollar order with them (granted half was this card)

Edit: I found it, (http://www.newegg.com/CustomerService/PolicyAgreement.asp)why cant they include "A 15% restocking fee will be applied to all returns for refund" in the return policy. Well their manager couldnt find where it was written either so I dont feel too bad about wasting his time

Looks like they have a catch all in one of the paragraphs in the last link you provided:

All merchandise unless otherwise indicated may be returned within 30 days from the original invoice date for a refund. CPUs must be returned within 7 days from the invoice date for a refund. A return authorization number is required for all returns. A 15% restocking fee may apply.

Anybody got any ideas in prices on the G80's? in pounds?.... I have a 7900GTX with bad memory, ive underclocked the memory to get it to run stable, not sure if i should RMA it just yet... wouldent mind knowing how much a G80 will cost, my card cost me 289.95p been thinking maby it would be worth RMA'ing the card in afew weeks and put some extra cash at a G80 when they are released!?

If Geforce 8800 GTX performs a lot faster then my Asus Geforce 7950 GX2, I will buy one for sure . 7950 GX2 was my dread card but seems like its the thing of past .

A 7950 GX2 a thing of the past?(nana2) That's a good one. It's only the fastest card money can buy!!!! That will change on November 8. But then another card will soon take the place of the 8800GTX by April or so. Friend, it just goes on and on and on. You buy a top-end card and 4 months later it's yesterday's news. If your 7950 GX2 runs all of your games well, why do you need to buy a faster card that will cost over $600!!!!!????!?!?!?

I want the 8800 for HDR + AA, it's new AA mode and improved AA handling.

Actually i really love this card, this is exactly what i wanted. It runs my faourite titles like GRAW at 1600x1200 + 16xAF above 60+ FPS/Company of Heroes 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF 50+ FPS.
But soon after G80 is release. RIght now i can get some $$$ if i auction it on ebay but if i wait for month or two it wont sell for crap.

But i wanna see if G8800 GTX is more then 30% faster then my Asus Geforce 7950 GX2. IF not ill keep my Geforce 7950 GX2 until they come out with Improved version of DX10 cards.

to the OP

Thats why you buy from ONLY evga. The stepup system could have gotten you an upgrade for next to nothing.

And that's why i did :captnkill:

My Card is from EVGA, I have 69 days left to step up. It's a good fall back plan since plan A was squashed by newegg

It's supposed to be around the same timeframe. One of the sites that has them listed for sale but not in stock yet has the "soft ETA" as 2-weeks.

Get rid of it,and snag a 8800xxx :) I have a buyer for my 7800GT,but my GF insists that she get it,as she is still using my 5900XT and old 1.6A@2.68 and cant play Oblivion (her fave game) smoothly.

Return it man. You can wait a few weeks for something better. :)

Thanks for all the replies. I've decided not to return the card because I automatically lose 75.00(restocking fee) and because I got the EVGA I'll wait to do the trade up, I have 60+ days left on it.

LOL, newegg is the best site to buy from, and you aren't buying from them anymore because you misread their paragraph?
