View Full Version : With G80 around the corner... When will VISTA launch?

It must be imminent?
Or will all the initial G80 reviews only have DX9 benches? and then when VISTA launches will there be a part 2 of these reviews with DX10 scores? Granted we'd also need some DX10 titles available, or atleast a patch for 3DMARK 06
Wow present day benches could cater for 32 / 64 bit Operating systems, XP and or VISTA, DX9 and or DX10 plus Open GL, single core vs multicore test setups... Lots of combinations.

And I aim to pick up a few copies no later than the first week of December... after I get my two G80s of course. :)
I heard Q1 2007 for regular consumers.

Yes, most initial 8800GTS/8800GTX reviews will be done with XP/DX9, because of NDA restrictions, etc. But they will be followed up pretty quickly with official Vista/DX10 benches.

Vista build 5840 is the pre-RTM build
I would expect 5900? to be the RTM

:D
actually i'm really not all that concerned about Vista ATM .. i'd really like to take the G80 for a spin first on DX9.0 for quite sometime so when DX10 comes out i find out the difference. (performance advantage , IQ .. etc).

once dual GPU works in vista, i will have vista.
I will still buy Ultimate upgrade, i believe it supposed to be 250, if i'm not mistaken

I didnt say its not tempting , but i'm more of a technical guy.
i want first to study the G80 performance under DX9.0 & only then make an informed comparsion with DX10.
i dont like to jump right into DX10 just now until i see what the G80 can truly do in DX9.0 so i can judge the DX10 importance afterwards.

This can hardly be RTM because Vista has just been delayed by a few days and the final build has not yet been determined.

Apparently build 5480 is the RTM, and has been in testing for a few weeks.
So basically depends if any major bugs are found in it, if it becomes the RTM build or not :)

I was just joking with you :p.
But you'll see me jump on Vista as soon as it launches. When it comes to the latest software, i can never resist :D.

This is the latest build i can find...
"Vista 5840 RTM Escrow"
Downloading now...
5919 seems solid to me,installed it yesterday.
i have a feeling that vista is going to get puched back because it seems its new kernal protections are easily hacked.
