Yes I got Vista build 5840 running for 4 days now, it seem much the same as build 5744 but now it remove the build tag on the desktop screen. Pity it still do not have any new boot screens I am waited for. :captnkill:

I read that Microsoft fixed lots of very nasty bugs after build 5744 caused unable to upgrade from Windows XP. They now pass ahead of build 5920 and likely to rubber stamp build 6000 as RTM next week.

Here one screen. :D

I would try it if I could find the 64 bit version.

I think I will run x86 when Vista gets released and not x64 because of the compatability.

I think pretty much all new games and DX10 Title games will have 64bit support right off the box..and take advantage of it..Crysis is one game i want to try on a G80/64bit Vista and Dual Core (and X2 are getting dirt cheap now)

Hey Athlon...I noticed you're running uTorrent there in your taskbar. Do you have the problem that I have that torrent clients will basically screw up the network connection in vista and only a reboot of the system will fix it? It starts out fine, downloading the torrents. But after 10 minutes or so (sometimes only 2 minutes) the network connection basically crashes and nothing will fix it except a reboot. I have this problem in both RC1 and RC2. Maybe it's fixed in the RTM?

Yes I started to noticed connection cutted off problems last week, I thought it was my broadband was down but it wasnt my cable modem when I restarted Vista and the same problem started again 1 hour later. Then I went back to Windows XP SP2, the connection problems never occured here so I suspected it was Vista build 5744 caused connection problems. I decided to try downloaded Vista build 5840 on Windows XP SP2, after that I ran the setup but I couldnt get passed through the product key screen, this is a bug so I burned it to a DVD-RW. It booted fine and thankfully it got passed through the product key screen and installed without problems. I was online for 8 hours downloaded torrent files on Vista build 5840 with no connection problems. :D

It's like that on RC2 also. Pretty sure it's a driver problem.

From what I gathered, it means pre-RTM. In other words, a build that is candidate for RTM. It most likely will not be though. Rumors have it that some variation of build 6000 will be the actual RTM.

i had the same problem, but only on nforce nic, marvel or realtek nic worked fine.

with nforce nic when ever i tried to send files over network, connection crashed and only reboot could get the network up again.

I hear the 5840 build only has a 30 day product key. You guys who are using it, is this true? I don't want to install it if it's gunna lock up after 30 days. I've got 5744 running right now with no problems.

How is it only 30 days? My 5744 x64 build says it expires in like 6 months from now or something. I used the key that came with my Beta 2 dvd kit to intall it.

has any one be able to install Vista 5840 on a geforce 7950 without changing graphic cards on the intall?

Pretty sure RC2 (5744) won't expire for like...6 months or something like that.

Does anyone know if you can upgrade to real Vista once it comes out from this copy? I am looking to buy a legal copy (just because I cannot be inconvienced and $259 once every 5 years is not the end of the world). Does anyone know the answer, if it can be upgraded to real Vista then I want to install it on my Laptop (no important data or anything on it) to start testing Vista. Thanks.

Hi,

I'm using the same motherboard as you are with an Athlon 64 X2 4600+ and 4Gb memory. 2 300Gb hdd.
My problem is that the USB prots will NOT work at all.
Do you know if there is a fix for that.

Thanks in advance

Alexander

I wasn't meaning him pirate it, he can go to CompUSA and buy Vista Business if he wants to now. I'm mainly talking about why the hell he's using a leaked beta build when RTM is out.
