Focus Home Interactive will be giving North American gamers a reason to fire up their engines, having today announced the impending release of TrackMania United for PC.

TrackMania United is the latest title in the TrackMania series, and will combine high-speed racing with pure, uncomplicated fun. The game contains all the features of the previous titles, and introduces an extensive new content editor. The new editor and in-game browser allow both veteran and rookie players the ability to create, showcase and share customized paintjobs, tracks, environments and videos. TrackMania United will offer players the opportunity to enjoy a rich gaming experience both online and offline, while taking part in a friendly and fun online community.

TrackMania United will see full North American retail distribution in February 2007; however, a special early international release of 10,000 copies will be available for sale on November 17, 2006. These 10,000 copies will only be available for purchase online, and will be the full game, with no limitations. This early release will allow fans to get a jump start on developing content to share with the TrackMania United community.

Fasten your seat belt and get ready to race at blazing speeds through some of the most insane environments ever seen by gamers! Mammoth jumps, loops, raised hairpin turns, half-pipes, ramps and a multitude of other outlandish obstacles await the intrepid racer in TrackMania United.

Sweet!! Trackmania Sunrise was so much fun!!

Woot! Can't wait. I may have to buy a racing wheel! Jakup brought sunrise into work (where he used to work) and we would close and then play/bet on the lap times :D

My favorite thing about TrackMania is the track creator. I had so much fun creating the most wicked and (nearly) impossible tracks. :D

I agree that it'd be far more fun if you had a good steering wheel. I should probably go pick one up... maybe tomorrow when I get FEAR: EP? :p :)

I'm currently in the TMUnited beta, this game is just awesome, I like it much better then TMN, and I already liked that :)

Is this version going to be infected with Starforce? That's the reason why I stopped playing Sunrise.

Dunno how much kind of NDA stuff there is going on here, but I was wondering if you know how much (if any) new content there's actually going to be in United. I'm tempted to buy it just to have the original Trackmania (which I lack), and to have all of them on a seperate disc, but if there's any significantly new content (new tiles, etc), I might be much more inclined to pick it up.

I'm always hearing people complain about Starforce- what is Starforce? I have TM: Sunrise and have had no problems with it what so ever.

Is Starforce some sort of anti-pirating device or something? And people are getting upset becuase it is actually working? Or am I just missing it entirely?

I once installed the Trackmania demo and the starforce ****ed up my IDE/SCSI Adapters drivers. All my CD/DVDROMs couldn't work.

I won't touch anther starfoced game.

If this trackmania united is starforce free then I probably will get it.

Never had an issue with a starforce related game so could careless if a game contains it...

i never had a problem with starforce either, and i have quite a few games that contain it.

Yes I had no problems with starforce prior to trackmania.

Therefore I got that trackmania.

But one problem caused a huge headache.

I won't touch starforce again.

Anyone manage to get a copy?

11-26-06, 03:21 AM
I should have a boxed copy next week (Friday) - Australasia is one of those lucky territories that doesn't have to wait until Feb next year. I'll post impressions when I have time, but I'm working very long hours at the moment, so don't have much free time I'm afraid.

Is this a train game?

Is this a train game?

Nope, it's a racin' game.

One of the funnest racing games I've played in a long time. ;)

Anyone manage to get a copy?
Of course ;)

I've been playing TMU since the release, and... surprise!... it's most excellent (nana2)

The two pics that Redeemed posted are not from TMU: This one (http://www.digitaljesters.com/images/trackmania/assets/lib10041.jpg) is a ancient pic (over 3 years old) of TrackMania (the original) and this one (http://www.hcgamer.hu/gamer/images/cikkek/2005_04/trackmania.jpg) is 1 and a half year old pic of TrackMania Sunrise.

Here's a couple of pics (sorry for these not being actual gameplay pics. I like to take stylised screenshots :)):

Is it Starforce infected?

Is it Starforce infected?

Until now, it hasn't been listed here : http://www.boycottstarforce.net/?page_id=3 so it could be starforce-free... Though I wouldn't count on it...

11-26-06, 11:04 AM
Ok, it uses Starforce. Different types for cd and download versions, though. The download one is the remote activation one (that is, the one without drivers)...

That said, still a no-go for me. (especially after noticing the I'm-so-****ing-god-and-how-do-you-dare-to-even-name-starforce attitude on the tm-forum... Someone give me an uzi, please. I'm gonna free the world of some morons...)

Sweet you can download the full version here:

I think I'm going to buy it :)

They did a nice job on this. All the different environments together in one game is really cool. Unfortunately, SLI seems to only shine in the "Stadium" environment while dragging down the others to a crawl :( Anyone playing this on SLI found a profile that works across the board?

Ok. Thats better. Found a profile that works for all. AFR2 w/7cb2bf9. Works for me anyway :)

Found some info on the digital download's copy protection

Ugh, there are two authentication keys and steps.. One for the actual game itself.. It permanently ties the game to your account id and email. Thats annoying.

Now, the digital version that you download, instead of starforce, it will have another key to verify your download with "Focus" (I guess the online distributor). Here's the annoyance
Focus Home interactive gives you the right to use your protection/activation key to install your game 3 times in a row, or to install on 3 computers. After that, you will need to contact supportdownload.focus@metaboli.com to request new authorizations for installing the game.

So pick your poison.. If I end up getting this game, I'll be picking the retail up with starforce, as the lesser of two evils IMO.
