I'm close to obtaining a second 12 meg monster 3d II. Now all I need is an sli cable. Anyone got any sites with info on making your own? Or know where to buy one?

Dude, your in for a treat!
the Voodoo 2 in SLI mode is the best video card ever made.
I still got my Wicked 3d 12mb's in SLI. :D
I bust them out everytime there is a Quake 2 tournament its my secret weapon.
See, Quake 2 looks so much 'better' IMHO, you can see the enemys soo easily from one another. Also the same for half life CS.

SLI sure made the original Unreal look (1024x768) and play a lot better, that's for sure. I can't even remember what the hell happened to my two diamond monster 3d II's. Seems like it was ages ago that I used those boards but in reality it's only been a few years or so. Time flies in this business eh?

Oh yeah!
Maybe all the 3dFX employes will regroup when PCIX is used in most computers.
They will bring back the Voodoo2's, and call it Voodoo2a or Voodoo2 Ultra or something :D
And of course offer it in SLI mode, but you can have 4 of them muahhahahaaha.
And the chips will of cousre be totaly redesigned and 4x the preofrmacne of its competators.

Well I got the second voodoo, but I can't get SLI to work. They work fine in SLI mode in my families pc that's running win 98.
After much googling it turns out that SLI just does not work in windows 2000. ARGH!

you're using the official Win2k driver right? I had no problems with 2k or xp

Yes I believe it is the official 3dfx driver. (version 1.02 beta from voodoofiles.com)
If you could post a link to the one you've used I'd appreciate it.

ya, looks like the same ones I used. I'm not sure why you're having problems. Are you certain you have two identical boards now (both memory and brand)?
Are you getting any error messages? Something about a "port" on startup regarding the Voodoo2. If yes, check out http://www.mlin.net and download Startup Control Pnael (standalone EXE). Then in the startup remove any lines that say "Voodoo2" (don't worry Startup Control Panel can easily undo itself too). I don't recall if 2k has this issue, but I know XP used to give me a Voodoo2 port startup error until I removed that line. The good news is you don't need the line, trust me, the Voodoo2 works fine with it so long as your device manager drivers are installed.

Hmm the boards aren't absolutely identical. They have different brands of memory on them, they do function perfectly in SLI in 98 with 3dfx's last official drivers though.
I didn't get any error message, but after every reboot rundll32.exe was at 100% cpu usage until I killed it. Then when I checked the voodoo 2 display properties it would say SLI : Not Detected.
i dont like the sound of those boards, they should be IDENTICAL
