Well this really makes me upset:mad:. If I want to get 8800 GTX cards I will not be able to keep my Alienware case (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=979466&postcount=12). Apparently the GTX cards will be 28cm long (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=79065) and I only have room for a 27cm card!!!:( After measuring my dang case 7 times I have come to that very sad conclusion. Unfortunately as well I do not have room in my case to move my harddrives to different bay locations.

One side of me says keep the case and just get 2 8800 GTS cards which are 24cm long.:D Although I'm fairly certain I may not get the same expandability and functionality with GTS cards.;)

The other side of me says get a new case that you may like even like better and screw the Alienware case:rw:!

If I did I would get the same case lee63 got except I would have mine custom painted green and laser etched with the Tikiman design I made (see attachment).(nana2)

:tiki:

I have already talked to Hank at Performance-PCs (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php) about a case mod so I know this can be done.:D

So what should I do get 2 8800 GTS cards in SLI with my Alienware Case or get 1 8800 GTX with a modded CM 830?:captnkill:

Two GTX and the CM830 because the GTX are better and the CM830 is the better case also! Go for it!

:rofl Well the plan would be to get another GTX after my tax return next year.

It's hard to part with the Alienware case though because I really like it!:D

I'm not sure I do know that it has much more room than my Alienware case.

I can't believe I got screwed by 1 centimeter. But the thought of having such a sweet case makes me very happy!

Wow who voted for me to keep the Alienware Case?

There are certainly cheaper cases than this one that are E-ATX, but replacing my Alienware case IMO is going to take quite the case.

Dagum yep another vote for the Alienware.:naughty:

Notice the GTX with the 2 SLI connectors and the GTS only has 1. That is all I will say about that.;)

I would go for 2 8800gts and keep the case. I love those alienware cases.

Are you sure its 28cm, because the German G80 preview said 26cm for the GTX. I know the Inq said 28cm but again IŽll believe it when actual reviews will confirm it on Nov. 8.

I also vote for 2 GTX and the 830 case. I am actually considering the same case because its really nice. :)

Dangit! :rofl Is it really 26cm or 28cm? Because for me that would make all the difference.:p

But the CM 830 sure sweet looking IMO. Especially with that window mod.

IŽve blended a 7800/512 card on top of the 8800GTX and then I looked for the length of the 7800 card and found a review that said its 23cm long. I upscaled the picture in Photoshop to that size and the 8800GTX did end up around 2.5cm longer than the 7800 card, very close to the 26cm of the German preview.

This is of course not the perfect way to measure a card but it should be close enough as long as the 7800 isnŽt longer than 25cm which would bring the 8800GTX close to the 28cm that the Inq claimed.

Edit: 7800GTX/512 review that claims a PCB length around 229mm. http://www.beyond3d.com/previews/nvidia/g70/index.php?p=04
