This is bad news for everyone include me who look forward to upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate from Windows XP, it seem here will be no Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade available to retailers. Windows Vista Ultimate are only available to purchase the full retail and OEM version.

Here a quote from Dailytech (http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4740):

Those who were paying attention when Microsoft formally announced its Windows Vista Upgrade program might have noticed that the new OS' top variant, Vista Ultimate, is unavailable for upgrade. No matter which version of Windows XP a consumer purchases with a new PC this holiday season, there will be no discounted upgrade path to Vista Ultimate.

Windows Vista Ultimate full retail version cost 325 here in UK at PC World (http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0776930357.116224791 2@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdgaddjfdmdleicflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=739392&category_oid=). I think the OEM version could cost around 160.

Dailytech got it wrong. There won't be any upgrade certificate for VU. There's still an upgrade price from a previous Windows version though. MS has already released the VU upgrade SKU. It's $259.00.

Aye, I think it will be worth the switch when it comes out full or upgrade.

Currently using it at work, it preserved all my programs, files, and etc in Old program files and old windows folders in which I pulled all my things out of and deleted to free up the space.

Just wish it weren't so bloated, I disabled a bunch of not needed services and brought this sucker down to 40 services.
