$800 isn´t such a big problem for me as long as it won´t end up 800€. The most I´ll pay for a GTX is 650€ which is a price that I can still somewhat understand because of the extra memory/memory-bus costs.

I might end up getting a GTS instead, especially if it should sell for 500€ (or less). Should still be a nice upgrade from a 6800nu and enough to hold me off for the 2nd gen. DX10 refresh cards. :)

Not at launch they wont. In fact at launch, stores are fighting to have the best price so people don't buy them all from competitors.

Thats how it was with the 7900GTX. I payed under $500 for it on launch day because ZipZoomFly and NewEgg were in a price battle, but just a few days later once the stock had depleted they were nearly impossible to find and within weeks the price shot up to over $600.

Cards are almost always at or under the MSRP at launch. I don't mean from "Ned's PC Store" or TigerDirect... I mean from the good specialized stores that everyone goes to for hardware.

I'm betting that the MSRP will either be $600 or $500 for the GTX and itl sell for around that price on launch day at all of the major PC stores (NewEgg, ZZF, mwave etc.). If the MSRP is $650 or more, I will be very surprised. If the stores jack up the prices, I'll be even more surprised.

I cant wait to see the G80 deals. My 7950 is on ebay right now for $450 buy it now, with the auction starting at $400. You have no idea how happy I would be if the G80 retailed for $500 and some site had it down to $450 and I got it pretty much for "free" after selling my 7950. I'd probably piss myself with glee. :p

Awesome deals do happen though. I got a 6800GT around\on launch day for $300 from BestBuy. They had a super secret special deal really early in the morning that had it more than $100 below MSRP. They ended up deleting the page and canceling a lot of orders, but not mine. What a steal that was. :D

Buy early people. :)

If you plan on waiting, plan on waiting a couple months or you'll be spending quite a bit more than everyone else.

Sure, but some of the places that had links up early had prices in the $620 to $670 range. Normally, the places that jump the gun are more like the ATA.com place that is listing $800. So, I don't think it'll be that bad but I guess we'll find out soon.
