Setting resolution above 1280x1024

After sucessfully upgrading my nvidia drivers to the latest revision (3123 -> 4191) I find impossible to set a resolution above 1280x1024.



I am running Suse 8.1 and I have a GeForce3 on a 23" Nec monitor which alowed me to work with the previous drivers at 1940x1440.

The drivers work great, but I am unable to set a higher resolution using yast2.

Anybody has experienced this or knows of any issues?

I'm running an LCD at 1600x1200, same nVidia driver, in TwinView.
What does your xfree86 logfile say? Are you using UseEdidFreqs?
Modelines?

Make sure your horizontal and vertical sync settings in XF86Config match your monitor. If your monitor supports that resolution then with the correct H & V settings, you will then be able to use that resolution.

To put it simply, if the detected monitor settings are wrong, then you can't select that resolution, your maximum viewable resolution is controlled by the monitor H &V settings.

You may need to go to the monitor manufacterer's website to get this information, or check the monitor manual if you have it.

You were absolutely right!

My monitor is a NEC Multisync FE1250 which is detected by Yast2 but for some reason presents some problems with resolutions above 1280x1024.

The solution: I configured it as a standard VESA 1920x1440 75Hz and it works perfect!
