Almost hard to believe and very impressive but most rumors predict that the ATI R600 card is going to be even faster.
By the time ATI comes out (early next year), NVIDIA most likely is going to have G80 upgrade to compete if necessery.Geforce 8800 GTX is faster than Crossfire X1950XTX

Super fast in games

BEFORE the reviews start popping up on Wednesday, we got the chance to get you some games numbers for the G80.

In Open GL based Quake 4, the Geforce 8800 GTX is faster than two ATI X1950 XTX cards in Crossfire.

The Geforce 8800 GTX scores a few frames faster in every single resolution with and without FSAA 4X and Aniso 8X.

In FEAR, Crossfire keeps it nose in front by seven to eight frames, without the effects on, but at 1600x1200 or higher resolutions the 8800 GTX card is faster. In FEAR with 4X FSAA and 16X Aniso on, Crossfire wins in three from four resolutions but it is never more than seven to eight frames faster.

We also know that you can play Battlefield 2142 at 1600x1200 all effects on and have a 100 FPS all the time. Nvidia really did a great job this time, it will be a worthy upgrade.

A single Nvidia G80, Geforce 8800 GTX card can beat a pair of ATI's fastest X1950 XTX cards! I think DAAMIT might have a problem until it releases its much-delayed R600 card, next year. µ

I am hoping that the 8800gtx will make gaming @ 1900x1200 (with decent AF settings) playable without going SLI as I just ordered a DELL 2407... :o

As long as R600 or G80 refresh (G81?) can play like NWN 2 and Company of Heroes and Flight Sim X at 1920x1200 (high details, 8xAF nevertheless), I'll upgrade from my X1900XT.

That's what I want (am hoping for) from the 8800gtx ...

I play/played CoH and FSX on 1920x1200 maxed out and the performance was good, not great but good. That's with two 7900GTX. So one 8800GTX should do the job even better.

Yeah I tend to just believe them unless there are a few more reliable sources that contradict them on a certain point.

Like everyone has been saying, they just say everything so that when the real info comes out, they at least got some of it right. So if you totally discount anything they say you're most likely going to be missing out on the correct info until it eventually is confirmed later.

To be honest, I think 90% of the time they are the first to release correct info about any hot topics, you just have to sift through the rumors to find it.

Eventually yes.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while :)

Throw enough darts at the target and one will likely stick :D

/me thinks of more analogies

Anyways, I'll probably grab an r6xx card early next year and a quad core.

5 units folding

Total bliss. Then I can get a 1950 for this current system and have 3 units folding on it. :D
