View Full Version : beneficial upgrade for a7v333?

Hello, all. I want to upgrade my current asus a7v333. I currently have an AthlonXP 1700@266 with pc2100 ram. I want to get a new Barton with pc2700ddr. Will this be a worthwhile upgrade? Anybody have any opinions, experiences?
Yes you would notice a difference, I take it your XP1700+ is an old Palamino and not the new T-Bred B's, which overclock very well. Just make sure that you motherboard supports the new chips, either from the Asus site, or other users of the same board. I dont know which videocard you have, but most videocards scale very well with faster cpus, you also might just want to get the 2700+ T-Bred, the extra cache doesnt seem to help much, if any, in games, I think it helps in multitasking from what I have read.

Latest 1016 bios supports up to 3000+ AMD CPUs. I'm using it with no problems although I just have an XP 1800+ (Palomino).
