I just picked up a GeForce 8800 GTS and installed the 97.02 drivers. You can no longer select the older control panel. Also, Coolbits no longer works. I need to use these drivers with the GeForce 8800. I really miss the older control panel. It worked so muh better. The new control panel is HORRIBLE. This is the only thing I hate about Nvidia.

you can make the old control pannel work ,by loading NVtray and netframwork 2 then select classic control pannel and set coolbits to enable all.and all I did was after I got my old control pannel back to working ,I then uninstalled Nvtay and my control pannel works like it allways did ,I just do not like the new one.

Actually, I felt the same, but man, after awhile, the new one does sort of grow on ya.

I think I see where nVidia went on this one, and all in all, the new CP isn't all that bad, even though I am more comfortable with the old one.

Finally though, I have figured out how to do everything with the new one that I could do with the old, with the exception of setting color profiles per app, which never worked consistently anyway. Had they fixed that, I would still prefer the old CP.

My only quam (sp) about the new control panel is I don't know how to set the Image Quality to High Quality, it only goes to Quality. Right?

New Control panel has always been buggy as hell, and crashes frequently on my system. I can recreate several crash situations over and over again.
If they switch to it permanently I am screwed.

Nope, HQ is there. I hate that there is no refresh rate override or a way to save OC's with the new CP. Long live the old CP!!

I am using clasic control panel for my 8800GTX 97.02 drivers but I don't have the advance AA settings. The new control panel is just blank and has no settings, has anyone figure out how to get new control panel working with the 97.02 drivers. (Note: initially I had the new control panel but 3d was extremely buggy with crashing, cleaned out all previous drivers, registry etc.. and reloaded 97.02 to find no control panel available, with reg entry I can use now a limited Clasic control panel.

Actually, if you set them both to 1 then you won't have a menu to the new control panel on your tray icon.

This is why NVTweak uses values 1 and 3 respectively, so both CPLs are easily accessible..

true. however, I have no use for the new CP so that is why I changed the values. I modded the coolbits reg to enable the old cp by default so there's no need for me to use some other program.

I don't know what people are doing to be using the new CP enough to actually grow to dislike it, I mean, tweak a few settings and leave it be, it's hardly the end of the world, most people I suspect don't like it because they don't like change, but that sort of stuff tends to grow on ya, like the new bond movie :)
