I have not been able to get this to work yet...

No, It's an engine limitation.

Ok, for some reason I thought G80 was to be able to do that.

Actually I think it is possible, I think for any card. It does make the reflections in the windows look a little off but I'm sure AA is on.

1. Set CP to app Control, gamma and transAA off.
2. Get yourself in game.
3. Esc out to options and turn off AA and turn on SS.
4. Back out confirm SS is on.
5. Esc out menu and turn AA on and leave SS on.
6. Back out confirm SS+AA.

The game will not give you an error nor will it "turn off" SS if AA is on, The SS is just not applied while ingame if AA is on. Again, ITS AN ENGINE LIMITATION NOT A GPU LIMITATION

The way i used to get AA and SS to work was this way:
Run the Performance Test with AA off and S/S on then rerun the test with whatever level of AA you want and S/S still enabled, take note of the performance hit, you now should have AA + S/Shadows. Now load the game.

Check the FEAR readme file. They're not compatible in that engine.

* The Soft Shadows option will have no effect if the Full-Screen Anti-Aliasing
(FSAA) option is enabled. Also, you may notice odd rendering issues with
shadows in the game if you enable this option while FSAA is enabled
through the Windows(R) control panel.

It looks like it's on to me, it sure takes a fps hit.

Im guessing you don't notice the horrible corruption in the screen you posted...

The shadows with SS/AA looks like it has motion blur on them..

Yeah,... no I noticed it offsets the shadows and creates other odd things but they are on, together, non-the less.

soft shadows in the FEAR engine look like ass anyway even when working correctly, so I don't see the point :(

Anandtech did a piece on the soft shadows in FEAR.....
