Download from FileFront then. I didn't wait in line and I'm getting around 470kb/s.

Thanks Burpy!

Video looks great.

Gameplay doesnt look like anything we havent seen before but if it has the right touches it could be awesome.

I really hope they release a demo.

Aye..cant wait..and this is OpenGL..something we haven't seen in awhile for online gaming..and you know its gonna run screaming fast on nvidia hardware :D

its a total joke, all developers should be using opengl, its so much more efficient, sure it might take a little longer to code, but its open and much less sloppy than dx. Its a shame what the market has come to.

For those wondering what advantages (besides performance) Megatexture has over texture blending...

...that kind of detail is not possible with texture blending.

Ok nice video. One thing that bugged me..some features only for 8800GTX..wtf that mean?..is it the new AA modes?

Also..hahahaha @ god mode..lol

PS: Is the "God Mode" the new 8800GTX Feature /lol

What about Doom 3 and Quake 4? :o

I have high hopes for this ET:QW engine though, despite the horrid online performance of previous versions of the engine.

Was just going to post this info.

One thing non related to the game, if anyone finds that this video is being offered to only paying customers of a download site, please send me a link. Activision has made sure this video is available to everyone for free!

My only comment:

Houston, BF2142 has a problem......... :D

Didn't get too far online..its pretty much dead now. QW is something like CS..its gonna be arround for along time.

Only bad thing I noticed, once the camera got close to some walls the texture resolution was giving me flashbacks to the 90's :(

Yeah, it's sad when Quake 3 still has 10 times as many servers.

To me the graphics in this video don't look as good as the older videos I've seen.

What in the world are you talking about? OpenGL is not any more efficient than Direct3D, and no, OpenGL is not harder to use...it's in fact the graphics API that most newbies start out with (I was one of them). Just the fact that GL is essentially a library of C functions makes it easier than DirectX's more object oriented C++ish interface (so if you know how to define a function, call it, and pass some variables around, you can use OpenGL).

And what exactly do you mean by "Open"? It's open in the sense that multiple companies sit on the ARB, but certainly not for end-users and NOT open-source.

Finally, DirectX is a very well designed and engineered API and I find it extremely nice to use. I also find OpenGL a pleasure to work with. All in all, they are both equal in performance, and both do their job -- allow for access to an array of different video cards through a standardized interface.

No more coffee for you. It is just an API. Many of us liked the results of OpenGL back in the day.

Actually not really, D3D has been out pacing OpenGL in terms of performance. OpenGL has more features but most of them aren't even supported by todays hardware.

Well you supply the extentions you support with the drivers dont you?
So that statement is.. well correct in a sense, but there are a alot of extentions to do the same thing and stuff like that.
Most of the vendor specific exts seems to fall unused pretty fast.

Basicly alot of the new functionality with the G80 for example could prolly be exposed with openGL in XP, provided NV supplies the extentions.
right?

Really? I think it looks better. :)

Lets just hope it's better than the uber sucky BF 2142.

What are you talking about? I was merely attempting to dispel the fallacy that either OpenGL or Direct3D differ in performance or capabilities.

And I know it's just an API. I have even actually used it, too!
