Pretty much, once Vista's DX10 hits the shelf, all DX9 cards are doomed, correct, guys? If I understood it correctly, Vista is based completely on DX10. So, anything less than that means such PCs that are still based on earlier DX video cards are rendered useless. Or did I understand it wrong?

Actually Vista does not use any part of DX10 for its interface or the Aero effects. DX10 will be used strickly in next gen games.

Older Dx9 video cards will run Vista Fine. The only difference is that it will be using WGF1.0 and Dx10 cards will be able to use WFG2.0 for the Aero interface. Also, you don't actually need a dx9 or dx10 card to run Vista. You only need them for the windows Aero Interface. The OS can still be run without it.

Good to know. Not sure when I will be upgrading to G80 but I will probably go to Vista before it.

The only difference betwee them it seems is that WGF1.0 will use the Dx9L api interfaces for the Aero desktop. WGF2.0 will use Dx10 api interfaces. Looks to be mostly a developer side difference. Dx10 may get extra performance and features added to the Aero interface though.
