Yesterday night I shut down my PC after watching some movies and doing some college work. Today when I turn it on, I get blue screen immediately after I log into windows followed by a quick restart. I tried to log in with safe mode but same problem. I got really confused, I tried to run everything on default settings like setting the RAM timings to 2T and taking the processor back to 2.66Ghz but even then I got that BSOD. Anyway I didnt have much time on my hands to fix it so I formatted and reinstalled windows and right now its working great without any problems. But I wonder what caused that Blue Screen in the first place.....? Any one have any idea about it ? I dont really want to see it again :o.

I can't remember the "stop" code, but a friend of mine just had to reinstall win after the same exact issue, right out of the blue. (no pun intended) Googling the stop code said it was a corrupted registry, the hive couldn't be accessed or something like that.

I was able to find a number of fixes, but alot of them flat out stated you would probably lose all your info anyway, unless you had a recent registry backup to restore it to.

His turned out to be a failing hdd, afai can tell. Running sweet and fast on a new WD250 now.
