Got this pad in after reading a review on it. The picture is misleading. When it is plugged in the light is not very bright. Under normal light in a room the pad loses about 80-90% of it's effect. The lights are 2 lites in the back of the pad in a recessed section of the plastic. The best part is, for a hard acrylic pad it works perfectly with my mouse. My mouse glides very nicely on it. The pad I bought is the green light one. Not sure if the others are as dim as this one. I am actually looking for a brighter one now and will probably give it to my 10 year old son.
Price was $31 with shipping USPS ground.
Would I buy again, probably not.

Seems like a lot of case mods and the like just don't look real good with bright ambient light. I guess it makes sense. The small lamps used to illuminate the inside of cases, your mouse pad, etc. typically won't generate enough lumens to really light things up. They look much better if you turn off the rest of the lights in the room. Works nicely if you stay up late gaming until you can't keep your eyes open. :D

FWIW, I have a lava lamp and a few other trick lamps sitting on my desk and it looks pretty sweet with the lights off. And that's with a plain jane case and no other special lighting going on. I did see a keyboard over at thinkgeek.com that has lit keys. Would look cool at night with no other lights on in the room but unfortunately I'm having a hard time justifying $99 for a keyboard when my current one works fine. Give me time though, I might find a way (to justify it). ;)

Hrm..........that would go nicely with my Blue EL Lightstrip, blue LED window fan, the blue bubble lights on the front of my SkyHawk case, and my backlit blue Eluminx Keyboard.

More blue! More Blue!! :D

They do have them in blue, again the picture is misleading, in the pure dark yes it is bright, in a lit room, you can bearly see it.

It might just be the green one, green tends to be dimmer than blue in lighting....but unless you're really into a slick looking set-up I think it's a bit silly. ;) (I'm a bit more into function over form meself. :) )

We have a LAN GT at the Minnesota convention center this Saturday, we expect well over 170+ there. I have Red "1 light"and Blue "1 light, 2 fans" and 2 green fans in front, in the case, I wanted the green pad to match the 2 fans in front.

I am planning on Mod'g it. Beveling the edges, wonder what a v notch before the edge would do?

I should have my GeForce FX ULTRA tomorrow.

I took this to the Minnesota Convention Center last Saturday where over 200 gamers came to LAN game. The event was a blast and of course I did not have the only mod'd rig. My mouse pad did not attract one passerby. I was unhappy, now to the performance part, when these pads are made they make sure the edges are very sharp. I played on it for about 14 hours and my wrist still hurts. If you buy one of these pads be prepared to buff the upper edge, round and smooth on the wrist side of it. This mod will be done today.

Next review coming it the MX202 LCD 2 line display, I have one of these coming I hope over the next week or so.
