im going to consider asking around here if anyone has a shop and get them to send teh cards from the usa, with a nice "gift" sticker on it, if i can still get on the evga step-up with a us card, and me being in the uk/. maybe jackup can help.

i really wanted an evga this time around, for a vista-refresh step-up

its very expensive, isnt it. i could buy a 360 and a ps3 for that :(

Spartan 117

you could by a PS3, 360, Wii, and a few games for that, sux newegg does not ship to UK, but thats a good idea, you send money to a trustworthy US person, and then they get it and then ship it to you

vat is @17.5% = everything is expensive > but these card prices are 1.6X the cost of yours!

edit* oh, i am talking about the evga or gainward ones. i can buy a crappy 'dabsvalue' version for less. but why would i want to do that

UK is know to us poor bastards as "Rip Off UK"
Even in the rest of Europe the prices are more affordable
Look at the EVGA 680I, it's 200 more or less in the UK, that's 380.73 USD

Try to get the video cards from europe shipping from the US is a rippoff. We pay what other countries pay + 17.5% for so called value added tax.

I have recently paid roughly $750 for a Asus 8800 GTX and that was the cheapest price here in Denmark. It hurt but I really couldn't stand to wait any longer. :p

The general retail price around here is $900 for a GTX :thumbdwn:

Do note that here in Denmark we have 25% VAT.

If you got a job, you can buy EVGA card at dabs.com for nothing until August 2007. If not then keep on eye on ebay except ebay eshops cos they wont do "gift" and leave the VAT charges to you when the good arrived. 2 years ago I bought BFG 6800GT OC on ebay for $387 (200) imported from USA while BFG cards were not available in UK, it was the cheapest I found on ebay. I didnt paid VAT because the seller was send it from his residential address so he declared the good as "gift". :)

Getting computer goods on finance is a no no for me.. I know someone who just finished paying off his 6800 Ultra in June this year.

I once paid 900+ Cdn for a Geforce 2 Ultra on launch day,so I could play Vampire : Redemption maxxed :o back then taxes were 7%pst + 8%gst
it worked out to about 917,not including the taxi ride home, from a small industrial park in the middle of nowhere.... I promised myself last Dec I
would not spend any more on this comp(paid 2230 with tax, when the Cdn dollar was trading at 91 cents !)The Asus en7800GT was 509.99 + tax
alone.Not even a year,and I have bought another 2 gig kit of DDR1 ram for 175 usd,off HardOCP,a HSF from Asestek for 52 Cdn,a top end 610 watt
psu for 195 Cdn,and a 8800GTS for near 600 ! I feel your collective pain.

I'm gonna get bashed, but I think tariffs to keep jobs in a country is a good thing. If you'd had as many good jobs shipped to china as I have [3] then you might think so too. Or maybe your government's just greedy...I donno...I'm a machinist by the way, until ALL the jobs are gone...

@dazz - thats a dabsvalue model - they hold nothing on the evga's or the gainward's. i wouldnt trust them much ever :p

Paid 430 for mine...50 less than the rest were charging at launch and 217 for the 680I mobo, some of these people should be ashamed of themselves the way they price gouge. The Dabs value are inno 3D models, I had a pair of their 6800GT's and they were fine, they're all reference models after all.

As most cards are based on the refrence design the only diffrence is ables, games etc. These will be white boxes with drivers & card. nothing else so will be OEM.

I found the cheapest ASUS Geforce 8800GTX for 378.42 at EuroPC (http://www.europc.co.uk/pages/ProductDetail.aspx?PID=78487&refId=froogle), it is 4 cheaper than my Gainward Geforce 7800GTX I bought last year.
