If anyone here has a 2407 (or similar monitor that supports 1920x1200) and an Xbox 360, can you tell me if you're able to run the console at full 1080p resolution? I'm contemplating replacing my 2005FPW with a 2407 in order to get full 1080p goodness, especially for GoW and whatever comes along in the future. Info, as always, is greatly appreciated.

I don't own an Xbox360, but this is what I came up with on a search. I'd assume it can run 1080p in movies since it supports HD DVD. As for games, I would think it would depend on what game you play. 1080p probably isnt supported in games that are very demanding.

i just read a mini-review over at [H]ard (http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1073048&highlight=360+dell+2407)

everybody says the same thing, ditch 360 component cables and pickup the vga cable

the dell can't do 1080p over component, monitor will say out of range, it can do 1080i, but the de-interlacer chip in the dell isn't the greatest, hence why many ppl switch over to vga

most games are rendered 720p and are upscaled to 1080p when you have it selected. from what I read on other sites, 2407 does support 1080p. I recently discovered my TV supports 1080p and have been playing my 360 with it, games pretty much look the same, although every now and then somethings seem sharper to my eyes. I have a couple of WMV-HD movies in 1080p, and those really stand out, they really look good now, and im sure even better with HD-DVD. But until the first 1080p game comes out, theres no way of knowing how games will look.

I have the VGA cable, which is how my 360 is connected to my 2005FPW. I have the console running at 1360x768 and all my games upscale quite nicely. That's why I'm looking to take the next step to 1080p. From what I'm reading it's possible with 24-inch widescreens and I'll save quite a bit of money over purchasing a 1080p capable HDTV.

I also have a question similar to you. I am contemplating ordering a 2407FPW as my gaming monitor but was wondering if it will display images from my Xbox 360 HD-DVD player at 1080p resolution. That would be a nice little bonus to ordering this item.

If the HD-DVD drive doesn't allow playing at 1080p it's a massive rip off.

It does over VGA. It does not over component due to licensing restrictions. ( with regards to movies )

That's cool then, VGA is the way to hook up the 360 anyway.
