Depends,

Video encodeing etc the Dualie system will rape my intel system. For games its the other way around.

2x AMD's win at
Photoshop
Divx encodeing
web servering
database servering

but that was with 1600+ amd's. If I had 2500+ bartons it would be a diffrent story. baislcy it gets a HUGE boost from anything smp

2400+ mp au$475 X 2 =au$ 950 for the cpu's
duel M/B au$500 =au$500 for the mb
total au $1450

3000+ xp au$1000 = $1000
nforce2 M/B au$300 = $ 300
total au$1300

i wonder what would be faster here ,has anyone tested something like this ? it would be interesting to see what came out faster overall ! this is just an example , i wouldnt buy a top range cpu cause the premium is way too high

Again, for any applicaton that is SMP enabled the MP system will own.

Also other advantages are, such as in windows XP or 2000, a program goes to hell and starts to use 100% of the CPU.

On a single processor system, the video gets choppy and you have to sit there and wait for windows to spit out a memory dump and then continue like normal.

With a SMP system your usage will shoot up to 50% and you just continue doing 'other things' than that program.

That happend to me alot with Kazaa.........
I would allways be like oh geeze kazaa crashed again... do da dee ooo http://www.commanderkitty.com

Infact my 2x 1.4 athlon MP system was cheepr than my 2.53ghz p4 sytem i have now :O HT P4's all the way down to 2.4 are due in what 1-2 months? So your argument is OK for a whole 60 days.

Try the argument is correct for the whole time P4's have been out.

In 60 days you'll be able to get a HT'ed system for quite a bit less than a SMP system that gives many of the benefits...A smp AMD system with PR ratings equivilent to a P4 has almost always been quite a bit more expensive, so I don't know where you get that from. In most stuff a faster uniprocessor system will be faster than a dual system with two slower processors. That dual 1.4 system will get slaughtered by a most peoples PC's now in most things...you're talking about a pretty dang slow SMP system there.

again this should be tested on on of the hardware sites to see
