Hey Folks, wondering if anyone else has this problem:
Dual GPU usage with 8800GTX during 3D intensive programs (WoW,CoH, 3DMark06 Demo) makes the sound of that program crackle, distort and even cut out. Reverting to Single GPU or disabling SLI altogether in the Nvidia control panel gets rid of this problem. but i bought dual evga 8800gtxes and i would love to use them in SLI without this problem.
system specs:
AMD FX-62
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe
PC Power and Cooling 1KW PSU
4GB Corsair DDR2 C4
Dual EVGA 8800GTX in SLI
Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum

*using all latest drivers from respective websites

Please let me know if you have experienced or have any knowledge of this problem.

Download PCI latency tool: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951

Set your PCI latency for the X-fi to 96 from the default 32.

hey thanks for the tip, tried and failed tho :(
any more ideas for this problem?
if this helps, my 7900GTXs in SLI worked without the sound problem. Does this sound like a driver issue?

Check jakUp's thread on the 8800GTX / evga 680i. He's having the same issue and has reported it. His also goes away when disabling SLI.

Thread is here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=79774

Yea, Nvidia is aware of this issue, and are working to correct it.

Just as a FYI, I don't have the issue on my nforce4 board (ASUS A8N-SLI Premium). The sound is fine with SLI with it.

you my friend have almost the same things I have, we have the same mobo, CPU, sound card, but I have a Enermax Noise Taker II 600W and thats going to change tomorrow with the arrival of my 8800 GTX's and Enermax Galaxy 1 kilo watt, and Mushkin Redline DDR2 1000 PC2 8000 ram, and of course a different case, hope that does not happen to me with my XFX 8800's

So it could be a problem with the newer 590 and 680 boards/drivers.

Does the onboard sound work correctly?
it use to with mine, but since I put the X-FI card in my PC, it has sounded so nice and crisp

My X-FI card just went dead today ,I thought it was my 5300 soundsystem ,but I loaded the motherboard sound drivers and it works now ,before it went out it would make loud static sound and then no sound ,and it fineally just went dead.

Beta BIOS will be available tomorrow morning that addresses this issue on the 680i mainboard.

It really depends on the motherboard, the 590 and 680i seem to have this problem.

Anyways I posted the BIOS in here if anyone is having this problem:

Hey folks,
After breaking my head for over a week, i think i might have a resolution for us Asus M2N32-SLI mobo users who're having audio corruption issues with SLI enabled.

In the bios, Under JumperFree Configuration --> Chipset

By default these 2 options are set to:
NB-->SB HT Speed [5xNB to SB HT Frequency]
SB-->NB HT Speed [5xSB to NB HT Frequency]

Change to:
NB-->SB HT Speed [4xNB to SB HT Frequency]
SB-->NB HT Speed [4xSB to NB HT Frequency]

This made the issue go away on my PC. Hope it works for you guys.

And if you're interested in specifics of how this will affect your performance? - hardly - because at 5x, you have a bandwidth of 8GBps b/w NB & SB, by setting it to 4x, you now have 6.4GBps of bandwidth - which is still more than sufficient.
