Perhaps I missed the sarc tags in my response to Tygerwoody's continued AMD bashing.
Oops he's respected member and I'm a fanboi hypocrite. :(
Anyways, there's still a chance based on all the industry events of the last 24 months that what I stated may come true. After all, as nrdstrm said, AMD had to borrow money to buy ATi and hoping it's K8 sales will keep them competitive.
*whispers* 2nd rate company *whispers*
(:D this is fun)
Well why did you make a 2nd rate decision to buy a 2nd rate processor? Surely the Pentium D will have been a much better choice for you? :D
in AMD's defense, they dominated the market for years. intel was working on the C2D for a looooong time. AMD beat them to the dual core market and their athlon 64 series crushed the P4.
theyre behind now and everyone jumps ship and doubts them forever? intel had YEARS to put together their C2D architecture. its not really a surprise. and i hope AMD rebounds. now flame me for being a "fanboy". whatever, im just saying all of your opinions change in seconds. AMD will be on top again some time, then everyone will talk this way about intel. so whats the point in continuously flaming them? it just wastes forum space and most of all, time.
for the record, i would get a C2D if i could afford one right now.
Well, just for the record, Intel beat AMD to the multithreaded market.
The P4 800MHz FSB totally competed, and often outperformed, an Athlon XP.
Yes, its based on the pentium pro, so has every processor afterward that intel has made (not exactly, but they followed the same path). Its almost exactly the same as the mobile processors released a while ago though.
the c2d is a good chip, i just hate intel to death.
Thus all your opinions are littered with fanboyism.
I'm glad I am no longer a fanboy. What does being a fanboy accomplish? Nothing but inferior products at times. AMD/Intel are just a name... that is it.

Personally I buy what is best at this moment, right now is Core 2 duo, the next year could be K8L, I´ll update this year my A64X2 3800+ to a C2D E6600, but I have to wait a little because is a huge change (mobo, memory,CPU,HSF) and right now I have ordered an XFX Geforce 8800GTS (first step in my Vista ready comp) son no money for more upgrades until April (it´s my birthday), but back on topic, I agree Intel/AMD/Nvidia/ATI are only names, if AMD in the next round gets a better CPU than Intel, I´ll buy AMD, but I´m not going to buy an inferior product because it´s named AMD or Intel or WTFCPUSYSTEMWOOOT.

every company has to borrow money to buy high prced companies...just because they have to borrow doesnt mean the company is on shakey ground...

yes, but multithreading doesnt hold a candle to multicore'd processors.
and yes again, quad FSB did often outperform the XP.
Thus all your opinions are littered with fanboyism.

The amount of crack being smoked in this thread is reaching a near legendary status.
Too true..... :D
this is just stupid, really. who wants only won company do dictate the whole of an industry. think before you post.
You are asking too much of some of our fellow members :D
Uhh.. Athlon64 walked all over the Pentium4, for a LONG time. Probably much longer than AMD will "let" C2D walk all over A64. That's just how the industry works. You can't always be on top.
By your logic, Intel = 2nd rate company
Athlon 64 is 8th generation, so of couse it walked all lover Intel's 7th generation Pentium 4. Now Intel has released it's 8th generation C2D, AMD has no chance. AMD needs a 9th gen chip to beat Intel's 8th.
