I guess the big N caved into demand and started selling them online ahead of schedule.

You will need these if you want to run the Wii at 480p

I wonder what wii will look like on my screen. It will sample it to 1080p but geez, 480 lines of info to a 70" ?

This is precisely why I bought a video processor the other week. It will upscale a 480p (same as standard DVD signal) to 1080p or whatever you want, and smooth the image over a bit.

But yeah I do agree, a 480p source signal is kind of pushing it for a 70" TV

neither did the 360 (at least the core didn't)

That's why I got the premium. ;)

Of course Nintendo made it clear they didn't intend to fully support HD so I suppose it makes sense. Ah well.

They don't support HD at all. 480p is not HD.

Yeah that is Nintendos biggest defect, but what the hell my primary TV is not an HDTV so I don't really care that much.. just would be nice for future-proofing :)

I know that but you need an HDTV to use it...or at least an EDTV.

Due to high demand, our initial allotment of the Wii Component Video Cables has been depleted. We expect to begin shipping again the week of November 28, 2006.

holy **** the component cables are sold out already! ATM mine says back ordered, but I called N and they said the website was out of date so it could very well ship. A lot of people are seeing their status changed from backordered to processing.

Don't worry guys was looking at Circuitcity and BestBuy online and they are going to be carrying third party component cables so when Wii launch there should be some component cables being sold as well, but to be on the safe side I went ahead and order one from the Nintendo store just in case. :D

Cool, thanks for the tip - I better get on that as soon as I get my Wii.
