The Bronze NVIDIA DVD decoder is $20 and works very well. It just runs with Windows Media Player.
You can also download Media Player Classic, which is free and supports DVDs, though IMO the picture quality isn't as good.

Believe it or not, Nero's Playtime works great! I like it better than PowerDVD. It can be obtained from Nero's website, along with the Nero suite (burning ROM)

Media Player Classic works great for me. :)
I use MPC too. But instead of its built in DVD decoder, I use Purevideo.
(Install Purevideo and uncheck Mpeg-2 video in MPC internal filter options)
Purevideo is the best IMO. I have the platinum version with great dts decoder as well.

Isn't Nero's Playtime just a rebadged PowerDVD with a different interface?
