View Full Version : Geforce 8800GTX Performance.

I'm running my Geforce 8800GTX in almost every game i know, and there is one game i'm wondering about. I played COD2 last night and it felt like I was at 30fps if not lower the whole time. I was running the game max detail 1280x1024 4xAA 16xAF and still nothing special. It felt like 8xAA just didnt look quite as good. Is there a certain setting that I'm using in the drivers that would cause this? See I can even play fear with 16xAA TR, 16x AF and runs good with minor slow downs. I'm a bit new to nvidia since I've had ATi cards for years. My system Specs are below. Also I'm using the 96.89beta drivers since nvidia doesnt have a driver for windows X64.

Is anyone else having this problem with your Geforce 8800GTX?

AMD X2 4800+ @ 2.6Ghz
2GB Corsair XMS DDR550
BFG Geforce 8800GTX
WD 8mb cache hd's
Enermax 660watt PSU
Windows x64

I saw some review with pretty low CoD2 scores.
Seems like a driver issue atm.

Call of Duty 2 is a complete disaster. We're wondering if this may be down to driver enhancements and we're hoping to see performance in this game go up.

I switched over to XP64 y'day and have noticed the overall performance with this card is quite a bit lower than with XP32 with the same games. My guess is that the current x64 drivers suck a litttle bit:)

Yea its kind of weird. I cant even get into quake4 or prey. Quake4 gives me error when loading into the game. Prey does the same but kicks me to the console. It says My video card / driver combination doesnt support these features. So the Doom3 engine is out of the question for me until drivers come out.

Like in COD2 it runs very smooth unitl I shot a gun. Say in signle player i can run around the homes, etc and its smooth once I start shooting at an enemy its like down to 10fps. I always foudn every card I've owned besides my X800 ran the game crappy. I swear my X800 ran COD2 better then my X1800XT Crossfire and even my Geforce 8800gtx.

Older cards can usually run the games better because they are doing less work(mostly due to lack of hardware support for the heavy IQ stuff like HDR and such)
