View Full Version : shootings (with real guns) , and stampedes for PS3
i was just watching the news..
well apparently some guys with guns went to the people in line and demanded they give them the money they were going to buy the PS3 with. when one guy refused they shot him.
and apparently there were stampedes with people getting trampled on to get into the store to buy the PS3.

Yeah apparently the kid got shot in the chest and shoulder but he's fine in the hospital. This is definetely the most violent launch I have ever seen.
My friend who got 3 PS3s, told me he saw a gang of black kids standing outside the line and he told me he overheard them talking about robbing some people.
any website links of the news?

What does it matter what color their skin is? Why even mention it?

IMHO. I think stores should just let people line up about a couple of hours before the launch. Give everyone in line a ticket and give them away lottery style.
I just think it would be fairer and avoid a lot of these situations. I'm sure the hardcore camping crowd would hate this idea.:)

I saw a headline in my newspaper (Sacramento Bee) that one gamestop had 4 PS3's stolen from it at gunpoint :/
Yeah, I think disallowing camping would reduce such incidents. And maybe not have midnight launches so that it would be daylight when the trnsaction were being made... If people can wait 5 years or whatever, I think they can wait 6-7 hours after midnight to get a PS3.

thought i stopped posting in P&R, i also dont see why its relevant to detail their race, unless its relevant insofar as race played some role in the event described. why didnt he also include details of gender? arent they worth mentioning? im not talking about political correctness, im just saying it implies (to me) an implicit bias when someone says something like that

none of this wouldve happened if more stores were like best buy that handed out those tickets so once ur in line, ur in line. dont have to wait and then rush in and risk being killed trying to get 1

I know where that happened. Fresno, Ca of all places. I actually had a co-worker and her husband go there as well. They were probably the many that got run over. :captnkill:
Cops started pulling people off the pile which was funny. And some people were still trying to get into the pile. Ha.

yes, i shouldnt make accusations like that. i couldnt possibly know how you feel in your heart about issues like race so i shouldnt throw the race card around. it wont ever happen again

I love how white kids who were raised in suburban areas where 99% of the population was white make statements like "why is it relevant to detail their race?" or "why bring race into it?"

It would kinda be hard to live in Brooklyn if I was racist, I'll just leave it at that.

You could start by not reading too much into a simple comment.
Christ, all it takes is the word "black" to set some people off. You're the one displaying racist tendencies here, not toxic.
