97.19 Vista RTM 32bit Full Driver with CPL

I was able to get the Driver to install using the original .INF I just selected the 7600. Wierd. Driver installed and seems to work fine. Haven't tried any gaming yet.

OK modded the INF once again. currently only for desktop users. ill be adding the support modes for the go stuff shortly. Can someone try it on their 8800 please

Maybe its because the 96.85 drivers are still installed, problem is I dont know how to uninstall them fully, they dont appear in the add/remove programs for vista and removing from the device manager doesnt remove any of the control panel software, any ideas?

hmm this does seem like a driver uninstall issue, try using the uninstall utility in the driver install directory

Try rolling back to the default windows driver and try installing again. this time use the setup.exe with the drivers. dont try updating manually.

Same issue with the 8800, and the setup doesn't detect any compatible cards.

Hey Lord_Obsidian,

Using INF4 I was able to get my Geforce Go 7800GTX to install correctly. Althought it isn't for the Geforce Go it seemed to work and install correctly. Will try some gaming and see how the results are.

ok just verified on a 7900gt i can get the driver to install using setup.exe and the CPL installs fine as well.

We do love the effort you're putting in here, but we just want an 8800 driver that works with Vista :(

oh and a question 32bit XP drivers work fine with Vista, have you tried installing the 8800 XP version on vista, at the very least you will get some 3d acceleration...

Not much.. Still no SLI support either it seems. I ran a quick Aquamark3 run and it was very slow compared to XP.

Its the 8800's that are driving me nuts! pants driver support for vista.

Hey Obsidian.

Now I am using my vista RTM in safe-mode with networking. Your latest #5 version recognized the drivers and through the device manager I was able to install it successfuly. Upon the restart as it suggest I get the BSOD right before Vista loads up.

A few of the error messages that come up are the following:

IRQL not less or equal

nvlddmhnsys (error)

I am not sure what this means, but do you have any suggestions?

Oh and when I try to install using the "setup.exe" it says no drivers are compatible with my hardware, so I am forced to install it through the device manager. Not sure if any of this is helpfull, but I am interested in knowing if you got a fix for this. :)

thats an issue with memory mapping, pants again. ill try and modify the INF again, ill test this in the DEV lab, heading down , will post from there.

I got INF4 working.

To uninstall my current drivers (96.85) I actually ran the installer again, what that does is first remove your old drivers and then prompts for a restart, and then the new ones are added when your PC boots up again.

All i did was run the setup for the 97.19's before I did the restart which made it reboot with the new drivers (the control panel confirms the new driver file versions as 97.19)

Im not sure if the drivers overwrote the old 96.85 control panel, but if they did then It's still the same as before from what I can tell, very limited implimentation, you have profiles and dual monitor setup and thats about it!

Performance in Dark Messiah is way up!

I'm not certain if thats because the drivers have been improved or if SLI is now working, im going to attempt to try Dark Messiah with my 2nd monitor active to see if it turns off or if the performance changes, I hear you can't use SLI and Dual monitors together although from what the options in the control panel offer as far as SLI/Dual monitors go they might have changed that, i'll report back in a few.

Nope, looks like SLI isn't working, although they have the SLI options in the profiles of how you want it to work it doesn't include SFR AFR or anything like that.

Single Display Performance Mode
Compatability Performance Mode
Multiple Display Performance Mode

Single display perofrmance mode didnt help realy, I'm going to try compatability mode.

Hi! Thanks for linking to 97.19 Vista RTM 32bit Full Driver with CPL, I used the 4th .inf mod and now my BFG 7900 GT OC is working :)

I was wondering however, is there a way to re-enable the classic control panel? Using the RC2 Nvidia drivers there was no sign of the good old panel, but apon installing these, the old tab option has re-appeared, but is blank for options:
